Now order some gold flake vinyl to make your seat top out of, black vinyl for the rest. My CL has quilted gold metalflake vinyl kneepad covers by a previous owner, I should do my seat to match...

Looks good. I prefer to shoot a nice wet color base, dry shake the flake on and then clear the piss out of it. Less cleanup, less flake wasted as it goes only where you want it too. If you add some 60s style ground glass to your final clear you will have dudes lined up begging for you do spray their tins... Nice under the table pocket money my friend, cash only, couple hundred bones per item.

Mind if I ask where you find the crushed glass?

Love the flake Drew! Nice work.

I've never used a flake gun. I always used my gravity with a 1.7mm tip. Does the flake lay any flatter than if applied wet? The last flake job I did required I re-clear it twice to get it as smooth as i wanted it.

How did yours turn out?

Ground glass? Check with your local real custom car paint supplier, real boat supplier (old fashioned chandlery, NOT the people with water ski and bass boat crap) or ask around at the next traditional hot rod/custom show.

It's out there, it's just damned hard to find. Weird, because you can make it fairly easily, wrap a beer bottle or wine bottle in a towel, smash with a hammer, run the smaller shards through a spice grinder. You want it just slightly larger than modern pearl additives.

It's not crushed glass it's flake and I got it from PPG paint supplier. You can buy the flake off of ebay and it's cheaper . No finished pics yet I'm working away from home and may be back in a month.

The flake gun works nice because you can put a ton on. Putting on wet sucks because a week later when your painting something else the flake comes out when you think your gun is clean. Wet you can only put a little on at a time

I love the look of flake. I'm anxious to see the results of your labor.

Did you notice a difference in the amount of flake you used with the flake gun vs wet application?

I tried putting flake through the gun and with these big flakes it doesn't come out fast enough for the amount of clear that is used. You can do it with smaller flakes not the big ones.

Do you have it cleared yet? We're dying to see it finished. ;)

The crushed glass was mentioned to make it it pop and I was just asking where he found it since it's pretty damn hard to find. I've already got a pound of different flake sitting in my room waiting for me to find a good deal on a dry flake gun. I like the complete flake coverage as well.

I'm going to be home around May I work on nuke plants and right now is outage season.
