I'm actually getting some prints made up soon of a few things for some folks. I'll get you one made while I'm at it. I have a good friend who does graphic work for a living and I get the hook up.
Go!: I has been about a year now. I had started with a $45 airbrush, which was a little rough. I graduated to a Badger brush, and things got a little better, but still a little fuzzy. This is what I did my Dad's KZ with. After that, I got an Iwata CMB that is super fine, and then I was able to get into some paints that worked pretty well. This is what I did the sled hoods with. I haven't done many airbrush projects lately, just big spraygun work.
I know it is pretty rough, yet, but bear with me, I will be good someday
Here are my handmade trees in the threshold to my kitchen. Hand painted paper mache' over chicken wire. Wired the interior and molded in tru-flame lights into them.....flickering candles in the trees....in my house! With the hand wood carving in the middle.
I was thinking of making a new section for art, but wanted to see how this thread got off the ground first. Clearly there's an interest so I'll go about setting it up. I'll have to dig up some of my old drawings to put up too
WOW... This is awesome. I need to scan some of my stuff. You guys are amazing. Mike, I seriously want you to design the logo for the club Im trying to get together. Louie, your an asshole, but talented. All of you are inspiring! Go, I think it goes without saying, I think your beyond wonderful. This place has been a port in the storm, a calm and steady house of encouragement, and a land of wonder. Now its also a gallery! It doesnt get any better, Thanks all.
louis, that's adorable that you got the sketchbook at anthropologie. it's my favorite store ever!!!! and your drawings are incredible. very cool mix of technical skill and creativity. you can order those notebooks online, too!
and mike, that is just the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me! get some of your drawings up here
edit: oh, and other mike, i just might have to go to detroit and get a tattoo from you since you won't be in PA soon
The stuff in this thread is amazing. I had no idea of the level of talent you guys possess.
Cresent: Love the Pitt #1 repro painting! Awesome! Have I found another early Image comics nerd?
Okay here is some of my functional art. I haven't done any work on paper worth posting in a while, but this has inspired me to work on something. Anyway here's some stuff I've done recently.
I do mosaic art in tile, mostly on table-tops but also on backsplashes, walls, etc.
Here's one that is made completely from recycled material. The wood is all stuff that people threw away and the tile is all left-over from old tile jobs.
Here's one Twisted and I did together way back. We work very well together and do lots of art projects.
And here's my bedside lamp... Can anyone guess what it used to be?
geez, i turned my back on this thread for a minute and there is all kinds of crazy stuff. Kanticoy the DEER piece is rad. GO those dresses are pretty cool. Louis those are some technical drawings. i wish i could do that stuff. this should be very helpful for inspiration. i need to spend more time with the paint.
here is the sink i fab'd. and here is how i made it http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=11894.0
