We Need an Art thread...

There is some amazing stuff you guys and gals are churning out!

Totally shocked about the leatherwork from DrJ!

Cool stuff-especially like the bird stuff, Allie.

I'm a semi-professional artist working on getting my portfolio together for a tattooing apprenticeship. My website has alot of my older stuff: www.fallingapartart.com and my Facebook fanpage has the most up-to-date work and my blog: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Fallingapartart/494964365542

Beautiful colours, very day of the dead.

This thread is really interesting, I like the chance to see different interests of the people on the forum. Surprising and inspiring.
I have not been on the site for long but still surprised by what each person does outside of their pursuit of bikes, all you usually get to go on is an avatar, a few posts, and a sweet ride or two. Show and tell for the velo - inclined I guess. Here are some shots of a show I had in Vancouver, mostly paintings (which try as I might, end up being my 'serious' work) and some posters for Art School Muffins (which is as much a joke about me as art schools, I went to artschool, can you tell? lol) and some installed bits that include a wind velocity testing machine (actual old science instrument), part of an old railyway tie, broken marble slabs and stacks of tape that I use for sections of the paintings. Also just visible is a ladder the went up to a recording device with a tape of me calling everyone in my address book including ex-girlfriends, their parents, student loan people, grandpa etc and trying to record their answering machine (ending talking to a lot of random people about why I was calling and akwardly talking about art, I liked that). And the mattress hanging from boat ties on the ceiling (would have to type too much to say why on that one, lets just call it silly). The show was called Sound Sleeper. Mangonotforget.

hey kev nemo, looks like youre on the right track, but you should do some research on a technique called "spit-shading" for doing traditional style watercolor flash. it comes out alot smoother. its hard at first but when you get the hang of it its so great. pm me if you want to know more. or if anyone wants to know i could give a lesson on this thread.

heres a recent spit shade watercolor painting i did last week...

LOL-and what I like about it is everyone puts their own spin on it.

Mike-yeah, I picked my tattoo artist's friends brain and got the shading bit down much better (always room to improve). A tutorial or tips would be awesome and greatly appreciated!:

there's 10 total in a series of 5x7's I'm doing for the Lonestar Roundup (limited edition hand-numbered 100 of each $15 USD).
I could post them up, but it would be alot easier if people just added my page vs. me posting them all:

NICE. I live next to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge..... I love the pics you put together.

So much talent here!!

Thanks Man. The Tacoma Narrows might throw things off a bit, also it might be kinda hard to read the song lyrics with the picture that small.
At the risk of giving it away, I wanted to give these particular lyrics a visual representation:
"The bridges burst and twist around..."

I think I saw your lunchbags on another list judeyramone....cool. My dad only drew 'get lost ya little bastard' on mine.....
I always thought he was trying to tell me something but I never picked up on it....

Is this offensive? Would it be less offensive or more offensive if the guy was done mowing? Does the pubic hair titillate or would the lack of pubic hair be more titillating? I am curious to know. Full disclosure, hand up high, I am a pig.

spray painting in a basement, mask or not, is not good. You can kinda see the paint fog in the pic.

I worked at a sports shop that did embroidery, screen printing and cad cut vinyl to heat press onto shirts or whatever. I 'borrowed' some of the vinyl and some blank hoodies/tshirts whenever I was bored and used an exacto knife to cut stuff out backwards by hand. These are the only two pics I could find.
