Weird Model cafe racers

Cafe racers have gotten pretty popular where I live in oregon. Pretty much any honda cb is a minimum of $750 and alot of those dont even run or have titles.

I was browsing around the internet trying to find what weird and less desired styles of motorcycle that would make a kind of cool project. I noticed some people make some of the older xr and dt dirtbikes into some pretty cool cafes. I kind of want to build a smaller (under 400cc) bike out of something weird and thought maybe I would throw it out there if anyone has ideas.

Look for a Yamaha XT350, 500 or 600 singe, they don't seem to get mentioned anywhere so prices may be more reasonable?

I have a 1970 bridgestone 175 dual twin 2 stroke bike that I want to make a cafe but there pretty rare bikes parts are very hard to get. Hmmm wondering if I can put a new motor of a diff brand on it hmmm

I haven't seen too many SR500 cafe bikes. That might be a little bigger than what you are looking for. I think their single exhaust pipe would look cool modified on a cafe bike.

those bridgestones are pretty cool. i would find something more common to chop up than one of those. theyre pretty rare. but shit who am i to say what u can do with ur bike!?!?!

i am considering selling my 350 its halfway done.... but im moving across the country and cant take it... pm me if maybe interested

Really? Never heard of Deus?

I don't know what SR/XT prices are like where you are, but they are not cheap over here anymore (probably because Deus has bought them all ::) ).

What about a newer trail bike like a TTr250? The post '90 ones go forever and are getting pretty cheap. That's pretty serious custom fab territory though to convert one of those to a cafe style....

I reside in Northern Cali. We are experiencing the same over priced marketplace. It's watering down the scene a bit. Honestly, the people who know what they have aren't selling.

I've seen a thread here or somewhere of someone turning a dirt bike/enduro into a sweet ass bike. If I (or anyone else) can find it, It'll get posted...

Theres lots of 70s era enduro bikes that would make killer cafes. The Honda XLs, the Suzuki TSs, and so on. Around here (Western PA) everybody has "camp bikes" that they use at hunting camps and whatnot. If you go to these camps you'll see tons of cool old dirtbikes and enduros all stripped down that guys beat the hell out of. I picked up a 71 Suzuki T250 for a buddy a few years back that someone made into a "camp bike" for $75.

Yea you may want to see what that bike is worth
yea I've done research and its worth a pretty penny but I want something different that no one else has. A moded bridgestone would def be different

Here's my SR500 I did a few years ago. I got it cheap, got a few pieces from Thumper Stuff and ebay, did some cosmetics and have rode the snot out of it for two years. I keep thinking it's time to sell it, but then I go out for a ride and have a blast on it. I wouldn't put it on the highway or interstate but around town and country roads it's great little bike.
