Weird question: Converting mechinal tach to electric?

I was looking at a white faced tach at HF the other day and started wondering. Is there a way to convert to a electric tach?

I honestly have no idea.

i believe electrosport and dakota digital make ones that run a wire to the spark plugs and measure rpm off of engine pulses. dont quote me tho

Also try autometers website, they have a variety of electronic motorcycle tachos.
or alternatively google electronic tacho motorcycle it will bring up a dozen sites with white faced tachos on the first page.
