Winds had to be gusting to at least 40 or 50. I've got a 6 or 7 mile east-west stretch of road going into town, and the pretty much due-east winds made getting into town fun! On the way back though, it was eerie calm doing 65mph. I popped up my face shield and had just the slightest kiss of a breeze on my face. No wind noise at all, just the engine humming melodically in the dead silence. What a trip, had to share.

Cool, I just got back from a 500km/800 mile over 2 days. It rained like hell the first day, then I had classes and a lot if beer drinking, then a much better ride home 3 dyas later. Put some sport bike saddle bags on the little 450, the cafe seat was really comfortable even though it is just a kneeling pad wrapped in leather. Took 5 hours to get to the course, took 3 to get home ;D Bike worked great except my battery box fell almost off and was rubbing the chain for 20 + miles, zip ties to the rescue and will be re-enforcing it before the next big ride. Even though it rained like hell, I still was happier on the bike than driving in a car.

I had a similar situation riding the other day and let me tell you as a new rider, going into a strong headwind was NOT FUN!
I much preferred cruising 70mph with the wind at my back. maybe it's just me... hahaha

Yeah, wind doesn't bother me too much...not a fan of crosswinds but eh. This stuff was just insane. Definitely a first for me, doing 65 on a naked bike with no buffeting on my chest or face. Like riding through a vacuum.
