What do you guys think??

Is that the best you got? OK.. now my TURN...
OK.. I know NOTHING about new Sport Bike helmets...

However that being said,....** IF ** someone had to get a helmet to go with a...lets say...04 ZX7R or a...lets say a... 03 RC-51, what should I get??...(oop.... I mean, what helmet should that someone get?)

Arai? Icon? Shoei, Soumy? what???... ???

For me if you are going to wear a helmet you might as well be safe,
so I guess It should meet all modern regs for your area. I should think that would eliminate a few but not a lot
in the old days few things meet the regs
I run a nolan full face flip up.

I also have a modular Helmet. I have a Vega Summit II which is light, modular, and has great reviews.

note: I also have a one way mirrored shield .. so none of the hinges can be seen.

I'd recommend doing some research. Go to a bike shop and try on a dozen or so helmets within your price range, then check reviews on them before buying.

I run an Arai Quantum F. I've been through 1 crash with the same helmet (previous one, anyway) and that's my recommendation. The downside is that it's usually around $600 bucks for one.

That said, it's damn comfy, fits REALLY well, and is relatively cool (temp wise).

I LOVE my Arai Signet GT... best fitting helmet I have ever owned. It's identical to this one...

Nothing wrong with an RC-51. That is one of my dream bikes. I prefer Shoei. No particular model. They just seem to fit my head the best. But if you just wanted to be cool I guess I would have to say Arai. Alot of money buys alot of coolness you know. Who cares if can ride..... as long as you look badass.

Per my last quote I just want to say that there is nothing wrong with Arai's. They are very, very nice helmets. They just don't fit me well. No harm taken I hope. Very safe, just not real affordable. Notice I didn't say cheap because that is not what Arai's are.

Right... buy what fits your head. I usually wear a large helmet... the reason I got the Signet GT is because it has what Arai calls a "Long Oval" head shape. Because of this I was able to go down to a medium. I can wear the damn thing for hours and hours. Most helmets I put on HJC, Shoei, etc... have a round shape and I can feel the increased pressure on my forehead. Not good.

Arai's do run more... but you can't put a value on a lid that fits well. Bottom line, if it is uncomfortable, you won't wear it and then it's a waste of money.

You have to go to the biggest motorcycle shop near you and try on every helmet they have... its the only way.

Must be a similar problem with my head... my buddies Sumoi (sp) puts too much presure on my forehead as well... the arai is perfect.

That said, got to the biggest shop possible and test.... right now, i'd say go to Parker Bros.

Yeah... definitely try on a bunch of brands and see which one fits your head shape the best. Note that the Arai line-up actually has 3 different head shapes to choose from. Try em all on and find the shape/size that works for your skull. For me, an Arai RX-7 or vector fits me perfectly, and that's what I wear. I also found the OGK FF-5 to be a good fit. Comfort is number 1. All major brand helmets meet DOT and Snell 2005 standards now, so protection is not an issue. Link to Arai helmet shapes for your info: http://www.araiamericas.com/helmet_sizing/helmet_sizing.pdf

I've tried on dozens of lids out there to find what works best for me. That's the best way to choose.

my next helmet is going to be a Scorpion EXO-1000. Probably the matte black one.

its got a fuckin Nike air pump in the jaw to make it fit your head perfect! how bad ass is that!? It also has an internal sunglass thingy so you dont have to change the full shield if you do alot of night riding (which I do more than half the time.

im sporting the scorpion 700 now and I have no complaints. I like how they provide for easy cosmetic mods like pre-made "custom" liners (mine has the leopard print inside) and their system for changing shields is super hassle free.

I love Shoei helmets,but I think my next one(my Shoei RF200 is worn out)will be a Scorpion EXO-700.
Love the "Crackhead": http://shopping.scorpionusa.com/C55D9C025BA44D11A3713BF0D546303C.asp?cat_id=FBF05AC4DB8843C1B0FF76893F5540D5&pcs_key=38BA6F5516054F68B5A5FD2781AA94F6&retpage=%2FF4BD78EED51D4762989F1184B1165B96%2Easp&nm=Crackhead&spath=Home+%3E+Equipment+%3E+Street+Helmets&path=Home+%3E+Equipment+%3E+Street+Helmets&sc_id=82B13077C53A43E7900D8BCD3F485230

I do like the Shoei RF1000 though, but because of the venting/tail the wind blast wants to turn my head back around when I want to look to the side.

If I spent tree bills instead of two on a helmet it would be a Shark RSI Fusion.
This one: http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/PROD/rsigraphics/74-8600

What ever helmet I get I prefer composite built helmets as they will take repeated "hits" better than a single layer poly-carb helmet although on single hits a poly-carb may be better at absorbing that first blow. I feel better wearing a composite type, but it's a personal choice that one has to make for themselves.

I used to sport an Arai "Super Vent"(still have it) and I eventually out grew it as I was around 20 when I got it. It got where it was putting pressure on my temples, so I replaced it with a Shoei RF200 and I love how it fit my head shape. I do miss the very small shell size of the Super Vent and it was a top of the line helmet at one time. Lots of wind noise though, but no more than the other helmets at the time.
