What do you use to stick new handgrips?

I'm thinking about SCOTT GRIP GLUE, cheap enough on ebay, but I also read somewhere not for street motorcycles??

+1 on hairspray. Been using it since the bmx days without a problem!

If I use anything, it's double-sided tape and gasoline. Something I learned for doing golf club gribs. I figure if golf club grips can withstand that torque, motorcycle grips are a walk in the park.

As much as I love your avatar El Martillo, I think I'm gonna go with the hairspray.

Electrical tape on bars, petrol in grips... then wire them on.

The best method and one I use on my enduro. Racing with loose grips is just plain dangerous!

Mine were tight enough that I had to use heat and WD40 to get them on. They did have aluminum rings around the rubber on both ends, so that may have played a part in how snug they were.

I use contact cement. I apply a little inside the grip, let it dry. Then, I moisten the inside of the grip with a few drops of lacquer thinner or acetone and slip it on. If the grip is not tight enough on the handlebar, I wrap a little electrical tape on it.

Have a bike in the shop right now that the owner used Gorilla Glue. Big mistake. That stuff swells as it cures. It caused the throttle to tighten on the handlebar, and now the throttle won't return on its own. The throttle AND the grill will have to be replaced, because the Gorilla Glue is permanent. With contact cement, you can just dribble a little lacquer thinner in there, it will soften, and you can slide the grip back off.

never used anything. They go on and stick.

Same as above - I've never needed anything else than compressed air and totally clean bars.

Be careful using hairsprays and detergents as they can start to slip again when they get wet (it's the worst thing to be stuck in a downpour and then you have your grips spin on you  )

If its a tight fit -rubber grips, put the grips in warm water and they'll slide right on.
Once the water has vaporated they should hold in place.

Never ever use oil or soap, they will just get loose because of the lube, so make sure the parts are clean.

The Hairspray trick sounds like a good solution too, but clean parts and water usually does the trick for me.

I've always used hairspray, with no troubles at all.
But I'm curious... how do you use wire to install the grip?

I've used hairspray, also like rubbing alcohol because it evaporates clean. Hell, I've even used spit in a pinch.

Wire isn't to install.. it is to retain.
