What does everyone do for their "real" job?

CEO healthcare company. All the headaches, all the long hours, all the bitchin staff, no freakin fun till I get home and grab the bike.bj

bike shop. hard work and low pay. but the discounts make up for it.

and school. every. single. day.

I am currently the service manager at a New Holland agricultural and construction equipment dealership. We cover most of the state of Montana, so we get to alot of the farms and ranches in the state. I was a field technician, and actually drove the state working on stuff and living out of my service truck. Hay and grain in the summer, and snow removal and feeding tractors in the winter. The new post is better, because I can still wrench (I can give myself all the cool troubleshooting jobs ;D) and I also have an office and employee underlings. Plus, I make the shop useage policies and stuff. It is pretty ideal for my interests. I keep my bikes and sleds about 5 feet from my office door.

Cool thread! I was wondering if there was one of these...

I'm now a Postal Delivery Officer for the Australia Post. This is my office:

Thats not me but you get the idea. Plus, they're doing it wrong; you're supposed to use your left hand to post mail. . . so you can keep your right one on the throttle! I'm not kidding, either. On a few straights through my delivery area I can nudge 50mph (80kmh) - and thats on a little 110cc 4-speed bike loaded up with my 200lb self and two panniers stuffed full with perhaps 50lb of mail!

Anyway, its not too bad for a job as you just pin the little Honda CT110 everywhere and make sure you don't bugger up everyones mail.

Cheers - boingk

I've got an application in with aussie post boingk. They tell me that you need to tough out a 25 hour week for 3 months before you can get in as a full timer. That's rough. I just don't know if we could afford to do that mate. Shame really as i'd love to be doing what you're doing.

Sounds like BS to me, Staffy. There was 2 places going when I got in and I got the part-time 25 hour week. The other one was a full time 36 hour week.

Your pay starts as $17.70 an hour for 3 months then goes up to something like $19.50, that could be what you're thinking about.
