What is it????

Last week I bought this gas tank off of E-bay. The seller was not sure what it came off of, I thought it was cool and didn't really care what it originally was attatched to either. But now my curiosity has gotten the best of me and have have had no luck finding out what it is. I have found a couple oil in frame BSA's that are similar but not exact. So anyone know what it is?

Any one have any ideas, clues, thoughts, theories, or suggestions?

From the shape, I'm thinking early '80s. But the center through-hole has me stumped.

I wonder if it's an aftermarket "universal" tank? I've seen older dirt bike tanks that had the hole there too. That would explain why nobody knows what it is too........

Its a British tank for sure... I know Ive seen one somewhere. Maybe BSA?

Speedfiend you are a gentleman and a scholar. Just pulled up several picks of late 60's - early 70's triumph trophy 250's with what appears to be an identical tank to the one in question. Thanks a million.

On a side note... I dont know what ya paid for that tank, but in that condition you might make a mint on that if you resold.

$102 + shipping. I don't know about the resale bit. There are a lot of good looking tanks out there but having a good looking tank that you don't see everywhere else on a project of mine is pretty appealing. So it have to be worth stupid money for me to resale. Thanks for the suggestion though.

If it were mine, I would keep it and build a bike around it. It really is a slick tank. Which is also the reason I don't browse eBay for misc cool tanks..........
