Some buddies and I are putting together a mods and rockers show in September. My sister is a professional graphic design artist, so we are utilizing her talents for the fliers and what ever art we need.
So am am not good with words. My sister knows nothing about bikes or bike sub cultures. I have tried and failed to impress upon her what kind of people we are. the history, comradery making a part work to our needs. I had found a site long ago that had some history and stuff, but I can't find it now.
I was hoping you guys could explain what it means and is to be a rocker or a mod. Then I can piece it together in an email. This is for research so she can attempt to capture the essence in the art work.
I did some searching and found nothing, so I thought it needed to be discussed.
thats suprising that shes having trouble connecting to her client. I just got out of GD school and some of the biggest things were to be able to connect with who you are working with, and what they want done. its like learning about someone and putting their thoughts on a page.
the above wiki links are pretty good. also, check out some of the other links on other threads... i know there is a link somewhere around here from Noel about the 59 club, mods, etc.
I had to stop and think for a moment about this one....
What it means to be a cafe racer is to be a motorcycle built and rode buy a Rocker. ;D
...everyone gets one.... but I know where you are going.
There is enough info on this site to give a damn good base as to where this sub culture came from. But...
What it means to me is just being different. I own a few cafe-d British bikes and ride rather enthusiastically 40 to 100 miles a day. ( just got my 1962 650ss running this past weekend BTW) I love the cafe scene but there is none where I currently live :'( I am still hanging in there.... one day there will be more.... Until then I am stuck between the power rangers getting piggy back rides from Decepticons, and those whose bike puts them in a position that only an ob-gyn could appreciate.

It's in Memphis at Sun Studios. Probably third week in September. Calling it Run to the Sun. A ride before, and modest show after. A few cars, no American bikes if it can be helped. We are hoping for about 30 people to turn out for this first year. Going to try and get the roller derby girls to come, and there is a small Mod scene here, so a few scoots will show too. But they can't Ride ;D
