87 Yamaha ysr80 removed the passenger and rear seats of my moms Honda civic 2hr round trip. Seatbelted her in...a lot of strange looks and a thumbs up on the way home.
Rode one like this for twelve months when I was sixteen, did thousands of miles on it and had a blast. Learnt loads about bikes, bike culture and falling off ;D during that twelve month period.
It had ace bars and an expansion chamber on it most of that time and sounded like an angry bee.
Yep, that was my first ride, too, only mine was candy red. Rode the Hell out of in on all the back roads near home in West Virginia. State troupers did pick me up once, but they just tossed it in the trunk and took me home.
Once I turned 16, I bought a used Suzuki TS250.
I rode it on the street mostly for the first few months, then in the fall, I started doing more dirt riding. I outfitted the bike with an expansion chamber, a hop-up kit, a 21" front wheel, stripped it down and started racing motocross and hare scrambles.
First bike I ever rode was my buddys yz80. The first bike I ever owned was a piece of crap Suzuki Savage. Kinda wish I still had it, Ryca is making some nice conversion kits for those.
1991 Ducati 907ie. Bought it brand new. Considered a 750 F1 but thought it might be a bit much for a newbie. Considered a ZX7-R but decided it might be too much for a newbie. COnsidered a Honda VFR but decided it wasn't a Ducati. ;-)
A lot of people told me not to buy a Ducati as a first bike but I was bit early on buy the bug. It followed me around to a lot of places back then, some better than others.
I still own it. A few years back it was invited to be shown in the Ducati display at the AMA vintage days.
As for the first bike I ever rode, it was some sort of dirtbike, can't remember what, when, or where. the first streetbike I ever rode was a CB350 IIRC. It changed my mind on streetbikes, hadn't wanted one until then. Going down a hill it got a little headshake going on but that didn't deter me...
1981 Suzuki S650G. Shaft drive, tall enough I had to balance on my toes, and heavy.
Never put it on the road, just romoved the turn signals and ran her in the field. On street tires. Its kinda scary doing a 100kph on grass and trying to slow it down before the fence came.
First street bike 82 RD 350LC two stroke fun for the street, that would have been
back in 1989, lusted over a ducati in the dealership in 92. DesmoDog thats a cool
first bike.
