Yeah I'd say that's the stock rear 18" rim, but it is tucked in all the way forward near as I can tell.

here is a pic of the rear wheel that was on the bike when i purchased it.. seems small no? im looking at spoke length and just seems pretty small compard to the pic above. thanks guys for the help

i suppose by looking at pictures wont help, i will have to just wait til i get off work and check the wheel size on the tire in person.. is that the normal wheel size, 18" rear, and what size is up front, 19"? do people go bigger than that?

here are a couple pics of the tires on the wheels i have, looking like the front is the standard 19", but the rear is a 16"? thoughts on this?

Looks like the standard Harley rim that alot of people have swapped on CB750s and CB550s/500s. One of my bikes came with one laced up. I'm pretty sure the CB450 never came with a 16" rear stock. If you like the 18" rear better I'm sure you could find an original from a CB450. I bet Honda used that exact size 18" rim on a couple different models of CB/CLs.

i definitely like the 18" rim better, so would it be best to tear the wheel down and re-lace it up with new spokes and a new rim?

The good news is you're due for new tires anyway. Looks like an excellent time to get spoke kits on ebay (search for them - they are there) and some new hoops. Then you can get some snazzy new tires mounted up and be done with them for a couple thousand miles.

yogi do you think it would be just cheaper to buy a whole wheel off ebay or something and break it down, clean it up and re-lace it?

It very well could be. It might be hard to find just the rim for sale somewhere. Also if you buy just the rim you could have a hard time telling if it is really true and isn't bent or warped, you know? Somebody here on DTT might have an entire CB450 wheel they've had in their parts pile forever and would give you a sweet deal.

The tyres are massivly oversize for the rims, rear is bulging a hell of a lot.(bought a new video card so can look at pics on full size 23" monitor :D )

any recommendations then pj? like maybe buying a wider wheel hoop and lacing it up? not sure if that is a dumb question or not, first time playing with spoke wheels.. but i love that oversized sporty tire look, so i gotta make it work, but i want it to perform as well.

Depends how much you want to spend.
Used XS650 steel or alloy rear rim should be pretty cheap, I know they fit as I've done it
Brand new flanged alloy rims can get expensive, MX rims work (done several)
Mikes XS is listing WM2 for front and WM3 rear in black 36 hole at a very god price
I've put wheel pics all over the place, there are several in the 360 build/blog

hmm alright so your saying if i wanna run that bigger tire on the front and rear, i should consider a wider rim, potentially from a xs650 because it clears.. so if i bought a xs650 wheel hoop, i would then just lace up my hub to make it work? same goes for the front?
