Anyone tried the mini speedometer from Dime City? How about anything bouncing around on EBAY?
I'd like to get one of those digital one that all you guys use, but I'm afraid that I'll have trouble adjusting to reading the digits of my speed as opposed to just glancing at the speedo arm.
yeah I was wondering about the ratio... and 1:1 is typically for domestic bikes like harleys right?
As far as "feeling" your speed goes...this is my first bike man, I think it will be a while until I get beyond the excitement of simply being on a bike and get in tune with my speed...I've driven cars with digital speedometers and it just bugged the hell out of me.
There is a mini gauge speedo/tach set on the bay that's not very high quality. I killed my first set within a week. The seller sent me another set for free.
I believe it was older Harleys that use a 1:1 ratio, then they stepped up to 2:1 (easier on the speedo).
If you do get something from DCC, I'm sure it will be top notch.
One more thing - once you get the bike running on the streets, you will probably feel like you are going 80mph when you're actually going 40mph. Still feels great, regardless of speed!
I totally agree about wanting analog instead of digital. I've never liked digital gauges in a car and they seem way out of place on a vintage bike. Those acewell 2in1 speedo/tachs sure are nice though.
Are there any 2in1 systems that are all analog? Maybe a nested gauge or top and bottom or something? That would be something I'd consider spending a little money on.
