What's inside my cl450 cam?

Hey guys,

So it's been awhile since I took her apart, what the heck is in my inlet cam? It didn't want to come out, so I just left it in. It looks like the gear drive of the tach on the exhaust side, but this is on the inlet side. Also, it's loose in there. Should it just float around? Hummm....

I don't know the technical term for it but I think that is an oil flow control device. Those holes restrict the oil flow somewhat. I actually opened mine up slightly when I rebuilt my bike.

However, I think that is in there backwards. I think those holes are supposed to be near the center of the cam. Check the parts diagram. I don't remember that sticking out.

Oh Ok sounds good. I've never removed it from the cam before, so it must be in there right, but it slides back inside the cam. I pulled it out as far as I could for the picture, so you are right, it is sticking out too far in the photo. I could never identify it in the parts diagram...

Thanks for the help!
