Whats it worth?

I hate seeing an EZ model GS hacked up, but since its already boogered, the GS750 motor is a great motor, and being 82, its the TSCC (Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber) We own an 82 GS750EZ All Original in our fleet of bikes, and besides my personal Cafe 850 project, its my favorite bike. The motor creates great power, and the weight and handling of it is great. I'm sure you could get him to drop the price some, and I my self love the chassis setup and combination of the 750E bikes.

Hope this helps? Sorry I can't chime in on its value, but I wouldn't pay more than $700 probably for a bike thats already been started on as a project, because you have to figure out what they've already done, and then start on what you want to do. In all honesty we haven't paid more than $600 for a "project" bike, but we're lucky in our finds.

For reference, a 1982 GS1100E all original sold on eBay a few weeks ago for over $4,000 in original condition.

I also suggest Suzuki 550E bikes, the weight of them feels like a 425GS, with the power and 6-speed of a 550-4.

That helps alot actually, I've heard good things about the GS750 Motors and its nice to hear it confirmed. I agree that the true worth of the bike lies in how much has been done and how much remains to be done which I can't really judge w/o checking the bike out first. But its nice to hear that the value of the bike is there when its all said and done. If I go for it I'll probably offer him $500-$600 and walk after that.

The only thing to keep in mind about Suzuki bikes, is it does seem the older, and more Stock the bike is, the more money it sells for. Whereas, no offense to.... Everyone, but Honda's seem to yield a bigger price tag Modified as opposed to being in original form. So basically, if you restored that bike, it'd probably be worth decent money, but if you Cafe or bobb it, make sure you take your time to do it right and keep it clean in case you ever plan to sell it in the future, you at least want your money and time back out of it.

I have been looking for more guys in Atlanta. I live in Smyrna but the g/f lives in Decatur. Once I get one of my bikes on the road we will have to meet up.

Looks like a good start for a cafe project, the Vance and Hines exhaust and the accel ignition are nice, pricey additions if they are in good condition. The thing about CL is that this guy MAY get a dozen calls on it, several "I'm coming to get it" emails, and one kid will show up with no money and offer to trade him an ipod and a wheel from a '79 Olds Cutlass or something. I imagine you have some bargaining power.

As a side note: I hate it when people say "Get it before I do more work on it and the price goes up." The only reason this guy would put labor into it is if it isn't selling: meaning he needs to do work on it and LOWER the price.

Good Luck!

For sure man. Shoot me a message if you're ever around. Nothing should be more inspiring to get one of those bikes done than the weather we are having around here. Also, AMR just started a local vintage ride out of their shop that seems pretty cool...I couldn't attend the first one due to a really dumb problem with the bike but I'll definitely be at the next.
