What's the worst that could happen????

Coast to Coast
That thread title in a section about tires, brakes and suspension might be a bit misleading. sorry.

I just ordered a set of Avon roadriders for my CB77. The stock tires are 2.75x18 (Front) and 3x18 (Rear). The Avons are 90/90 and 100/90, respectively, which fits the tire size conversion math. The only hangup, is on the Avon site, it lists minimum rim sizes for those tires.

My front rim is 1.6, yet the minimum recommended rim size is 1.85
My rear rim is 1.85, yet the minimum recommended rim size is 2.15

am I screwed here? I need some honest opinions. Is this splitting hairs? or am I trying to put a 19 inch tire on an 18 inch rim like that other guy?

that's a relief. This is a city bike with occasional 20 minute hops on the highway. If it were a track bike, I'd be a little more concerned.

Has anyone had a problem doing this?

there are two tires available that are essentially stock replicas, a shitty tire from Shen Chin and a slightly less shitty michelin. They are both "vintage/classic tread", which is less than useless on streets with water grooves.

thanks for all the help guys, and for going easy on a newbie. If anyone needs vintage vespa help, i'll return the favor.
