Where can I get case seals based on measurements?

Hi guys,

Having a helluva time tracking down seals for this Kaw project (250 Bison). Nothing from eBay or google. I've heard you can get seals for bikes if you know the dimensions but I'm not sure who sells them... maybe Grainger or Fastenal?

Anyhow, I have the seals mostly intact. The metal is not bent but the rubber is deformed. Do I measure the shaft, O.D. of the seal (or I.D. of the recess in the case) and the thickness of the seal?

Thanks in advance.

Get all 3 measurements and start hunting. The hunt will also be dependant on how you list the dimensions
Like, 10x20x3 10 is the ID, 20 is the OD, and then the thickness

I use this place if they have the size https://www.bearingscanada.com/default.asp

Kamn is right. Sizes usually go by id., od., width. I have tracked down odd crank seals on amazon by searching by size. Also go to an industrial bearing supply house and either beg them for an old seal catalog or have them search. What size do you need?

Welp, I wasn't sure what to measure exactly. So for the ID I measure the inside of the seal? Because the rubber is distorted. That's why I was thinking to measure the shaft itself.

My uncle had a bearing supply company, he used to get me super fast skateboard bearings as a kid. Unfortunately he passed away about 20 years ago.

I will go measure them and post back soon

yes, measure the shaft itself. the seal, even when new will be slightly smaller on the i.d. than the shaft anyways. measure the id of the hole the seal goes in, the o.d. of the shaft and the thickness off the seal. for some standard stuff, ive had luck at my local auto parts store house (oreilly, advance, napa ect)

You are right though, for ID measure the shaft, for OD measure the hole its going in, and depth is a given
