Recently picked up a KE or KH 100 not sure yet 73-76? almost complete bike. My question is is a completed rusted and locked up bottom end missing top end and all external controls ie shifter and kick starter and carb worth trying to rebuild? Or would some suggestions be made to put a different engine on it? I'll have pictures up as soon as I get it somewhat clean. like to make it a neat little cafe racer but not sure about titling as it has none and I don't know if its a ke or kh and who would title it.
it has the jug but it was so corroded the inside got a nice gouge just from putting it in the truck without taking off the head studds ( was half way on). With the deal I picked up a super sweet 70's? honda tank pretty good contion, I'll have pics tomorrow. just looking for some advice as I've picked up 3 project bikes now and no ideal which to start with first but I know I need to focus on one so I can stop buying part bikes, this may just get stipped and rolling frame put aside for the off chance I find a decent motor for cheap that would fit.
if this is your first build...start w the most complete bike you got thats easy to find parts for...or unload em all. and use that $ towards the most complete bike you can find + get parts for.
Sell all those basket cases full of parts. Buy a bike that runs, even if it runs rough, buy one that runs. Save a basket case build for later, after you've worked on 1 or 2 old machines.
I don't know I guess the ones I have id like to build, but mainly I can't find andy omplete running bikes for the price range I'm willing to spend on project. and I like to keep working on things in my spare time. I have other post but the ones are to me a good price but if I sale them I know ill hate it later. I have 83,84 kz550ltd, gpz550,83 xt550(runs no controls and trying to find out how to put newer front end and swing arm in) and now a ke100. I have a running 2001 hand superhawk so a rush to ride isn't the case.
Anyone have a clue if a 250ex would fit in the frame? One local for $200 but they are water cooled so have to rig a radiator mount. I mean fit as in mo frame modification other then mount bracket.
