Notlob,
Just touch the tip of that powder gun and you'll be all the shocks you can handle. Ask me how I know haha

Although I agree with the sentiments in this thread... Thems the breaks. Its an open forum that ANY money grubbing schmuck can join. If we start putting post count or membership length restrictions on shit, it starts to create a bit of an "us and them" vibe. That is most certainly NOT what DTT is all about.

I've personally given away thousands of dollars worth of parts, as well as recieved piles of rad shit from members all over the world. Its how this kind of "hobby" works. You need some handlebars and are short on cash? If I have them, I'll send them to ya for shipping. A couple months later I need something that you have and aren't using, you toss it my way. If you're into this stuff as deeply as many of us, you'll always have a collection of bits and pieces you'll never use but that someone else needs. Be cool and hook folks up. It'll come back to ya. Hell, I've given folks parts just because I know they've hooked up other members. And again, I've been on the recieving end of members giving nature a ton of times, so I know I owe it to them amd the forum to pay it forward.

So to my actuall point... Haha...

The folks signing up here just to try and sell shit at a premium are always going to be around. Whether its here, EBay, swap meets, etc. Either ignore them, or straight up call them out. But please lets not start with the restrictions and whatnot. This forum does an amazing job of self regulating and policing already. We don't need to turn into another group of snobs and elitists like so many other forums. Keep it loose and free. And when some a-hole tries to use the forum for personal or monetary gain without being a part of its growth, we show them the door. Simple as that.

This plan allows me to continue to make fun of people, so I support it.

Im not saying every one should give parts away but let try to be reasonable with prices let face it this shit is just old motorcycle parts

Any plan that Rich supports is...
Well... I read it too, and it sounds good to me as well :p

Re: why is everybody asking full ebay prices for used parts

This is why i don't go into politics

Hell, I'm still mad at "someone" from years ago over the classifieds... I tried and tried and tried to GIVE him a Rickman chassis and a couple little Benelli 125 2 smoke engines, but he couldn't swing the shipping. So they ended up with someone else when I moved...

Junk you don't need and somebody on the forum can use, should be a reasonable price. Junk you don't need and nobody here needs, stick some sap with it on the 'bay.

Unless it is new old stock flawless, it really isn't worth much, be it factory parts or aftermarket trinkets.

My real pet peeve?

The "I just bought these rearsets for $150, used them for a few weeks but decided to go with something different. I'll let them go for $150" posts.

No. It doesn't work that way. They're used. You don't need to give them away, but if I wanted to pay full price for parts I'd just fuckingbuy them new.

My favorite is people with 1 post start a for sale thread and list ridiculous prices for the same parts that all of us remove from our bikes. "Original handlebars, light surface rust" and "License plate holder, slightly bent" $100 obo, prices do not include shipping.

Universal phenomenon I say. Have tried to buy two bikes locally and guys are asking stoopid money for non-running parts bikes. Maybe I'll just buy a new bike instead...

Or the bikes that couldn't/shouldn't be given away that are listed for stupid high money.

Would be like me asking high book on my "period correct" 1963 CL72... with its Ceriani shocks and fork, CL77 carb set, CB77 tls rear wheel, CL77 sls front wheel, no seat, no airbox, oversized street knobbies, lack of fenders, CB exhaust headers and cheapo glass pack mufflers, no wiring... and an engine locked up so tight that dynamite won't budge the pistons (which means it has a transmission issue)... a few generic Honda sloper parts and a lot of headaches.

At least I knew what I was getting into with it (engine still worked when I got it), and didn't immediately decide to dump it here hoping somebody would be dumb enough to take it off my hands in exchange for a lot of hard earned money. I may not be the nicest person in the world but damn, even I have more soul than that.

Now if one of you guys wanted a real challenge and showed up at my door to collect it... it has NO paper trail, I've searched... I wouldn't turn down a cold beer in trade, about all a sign grade bike is worth.

easily seen parts bike go through the roof around here as well. Nothing new, when things get more popular prices rise with the demand. Then people who have no idea look around to see what there stuff is worth and arrive at the conclusion that they are sitting on gold mines. There's a guy not far from me that buys up everything and I mean everything just to barely clean the carbs and bolt down some clubmans and sell em to the hipsters . Business is booming for him too. Sad times for people who were into it before it went popular.

Well, soon the cycle-cycle will change again and things will be even cheaper because the fad luster has worn off. Look at the West Coast Chopper billet barge prices now versus when they were popular.
Still sux if you need a part to keep a bike on the road. I just paid like 75$ for a caliper on a forum ! It did not need a rebuild but seriously never would have paid that two years ago- Had to have it though or play the waiting game and watch other riders out having all the fun like a kid with a broken leg all summer. Gotta pay to play I guess.

I personally am sitting on all my parts so they arent bought at fair prices from me just to be flipped. If I see someone who is in need then surely I'd help , I just quit broadcasting my inventory.

Coupla more annoying things...
When somebody starts an ad and says "I've got this super rare mint condition thingamabob. I'll take pics of it only if someone is interested. Make offer."

Or when somebody sells a custom part, at a cheap price, to another forum member. And then the buyer claims they never got the part and stops payment.

Both douchebag moves ;)
