will a cb400 engine fit into the 81 cb250frame

hahaha love the response
ok how bout
will it fit safely in the frame. not destroy the frame.... should i do it,
slight modifications ok....
or is the frame just not right too small

Hey Rhyde. The bike you link too is the 400 four and to fit that in the frame for the 250 twin would be major work. I think you might be asking if the 400 twin cb motor of the same generation will bolt into your CB250 frame. I looked at the bike in your build thread and it looks almost exactly like the CB400 I have imn my shed. If you want to take some measurements of your motor mount positions I can measure mine and see if they match, then you will know if you can get a CB400 in there. Or even better an 82+ CB/CM450 has the same bolt points and is a direct swap with the 400, they have an oil cooler, better bottom end and an oil line to the heads, more HP and more reliable than the 79-81 400's. I put one in my cb400 when I lost a piston ;D Honda are really good at using the same parts on a lot of bikes so it just might be a direct swap. Or maybe just changing th emounts and the motor.

Welcome to DTT and good luck on the build.

Cheers,

Maritime

Hehe :)
That answer is telling you all you shoud know ;). It means that YOU can make everything to fit... some people are just building another frame from scratch... other just make the engine fit into position with cutting and grinding... it depense on how far you are willing to go to achieve your perfect build ;).

If nobody answer directly to your question it means only one thing... You are awesome because you are thinking about something that nobody did before you! So be happy about it and proud because you'll have something really unique!!

Keep up to good work and don't forget to open a tread about your build so we can copy you for our future build :D HAHA!

Btw welcome to DTT.
