Wiring left hand K&S switch to a 1979 750 CB

I recently had my headlight go out. I traced the problem back to the left hand switch. the switch is a K&S # 12-0041B the wires on the switch and color coded by function. I grabbed my trusty Clymer diagram and had at it soldering wire to wire, wrong nothing worked. The original switch has LT Blue wires that are not in the old switch loom. I've now installed plug connectors as I have cut wires to the point they are too short at the six pin plug. BTW the new switch is a nine pin.
Has anyone dealt with this before, I also purchased a new headlight plug and am not sure how to wire this in, the old plug had two of each color wire, 2 blue 2 green and 2 white, the new plug has one color each.
I'm Jonesing as my bike has been in Hospital for two weeks now, and she wants to go Canyon Carving.
I've attached the K&S wire code hoping someone can help.
Up date, I've been out of town since the 05/05 back on 05/12and I'm still trying to figure this out I've checked for continuity. I( thought I had the thing sussed and turned the key nothing, no turn singles, no headlight. I've read some other guys earlier had gotten help from others who had similar problems. Wiring is just not my thing I have figured the light plug out , and I've tried matching wires by function off my old Loom but I'm still not riding.
If anyone has any idea what I need to get my sweet Baby back riding
My Wife is tered of me working on my bike instead of anything else.

You've got two problems, wiring the switch, and then wiring the headlight. Can you match the switch diagram up to the factory/manual diagram? Worry about the headlight later.

Your old headlight had two wires on each HL terminal, probably sharing that current with other devices. My benelli has that for the high beam. One wire in to the terminal, then another one connecting that power to the speedo light. So you may get a working headlight but some other light wont be lit up. Then you'll have to splice into them to share the current.

Its easy to figure out which color wire on a headlight does what. Just get a battery and run wires to each one and see if it comes on Hi, Low, running light, should also be a ground in there.

3 wires=hi(blue), lo(green), ground(white), i'm just guessing but its easy to figure out.

I had a similar problem on my ducati monster when the headlight burnt out and I bought a cheapo unit off ebay. I cut off the connector and spliced in wire to wire. The manual should have a diagram that shows what color wire does what. Having a multimeter is a big help. Its easy man just take your time and ask for help.

I searched your name and found this, which bye the way I never received, It had the attachment option at the bottom. I've attached the two wiring diagrams. Actually one diagram and K&S's color code. On the headlight I believe the stock had the green and blue double wired as one wire was a switch leg and the second went to power. since they don't provide a two wired light socket I'm assuming I tie, say the blue into the wire as shown on the K&S sheet and jump another wire I supply int power from the bike. so i heave power to the Headlight and the provided blue off the socket to the switch leg. Or is it vise versus.
With the new harness I'll have the additional wires, like orange & white/orange that were chopped off earlier. I'm attaching that to another email to you so you can see better what I'm taking about, the like socket is shown on that with in line bullet plugs that are no longer on my old harness.
I'll send that next if I can down load the pic. from Ebay. This is the first non screwed up wire harness I've seen on Ebay, I bought a couple, in the past that had burnt wires or had wires chopped. This one looks complete and pretty clean.

Here's the harness I will have in my hands Tuesday. You can see in the upper right the bullet plug ends that were cut off mine, the O & OW wires will have to be supplied by me they do not attach to the switch but must be after the switch I'm guessing to close a circuit ?
