Recently I bought a new universal ignition, I'm just having a little trouble with the wiring.

The 3 wires to my original ignition don’t simply go straight to battery, accessory and starter. I’ve attached my wiring diagram, anybody have a good idea which wire I should designate for the battery, accessory etc.??

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks!

I'm at work so i can't see your diagram (stoopid work firewall  )

BUT....

You need to find the live wire from your ignition circuit (this should be a heavier gauge wire - possibly red) and attach that to the "battery" post on the new switch. Then the other heavy(ish) wire will be your ignition wire. Attach this to the "ignition" post on the new switch.

If there are other (smaller gauge) wires they will be for lights / parking lights. Work out which is which, and attach the parking light wire to the "accessory" post on the new switch. The other wire(s) will be for lights, horn, etc, so attach these to the "ignition" post with the ignition wire.

If you don't have parking lights, then attach all the smaller gauge wires to the "ignition" post and leave the accessory circuit out.

Thanks for the help hillsy, between my diagram and what your saying this is what i gather....

Red - Battery
Brown - Ignition
Blue - Accessory

I probably wont have this wired up to the battery and ready to fire for about a week so please if anyone sees any red flags let me know!

I confused myself for a few seconds looking at the diagram, but you got it figured out.

Red- Battery
Brown- Ignition
Blue- Accessory

I'm stealing that wiring diagram too, its easier to read then the picture of one out of a service manual i have...
