Wiseco 810 big bore piston into kz440 - compression height?

Hey,

I've got a '82 Kawasaki kz440 that needs new pistons. I've been thinking, while the engines out and I'm getting the bore checked anyway...why not increase the bore.

Have found the wiseco 810 piston kit which was intended originally intended for the kz750.

As anyone else done this to their kz440? If not, does anyone know what the compression height for the wiseco piston is? Just trying to work out if i can make it work before commiting to a purchase. Have tried emailing wiseco but no response.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Shallower dome, remove base gasket and use 1194.
That will get you 9/1,9.2/1 is stock. 8)

Have also seen where the deck height might be lowered to increase compression instead of removing the base gasket but you would have to measure pretty carefully to ensure there's no piston/valve interference

Fair point DOHC, seems this mod is more or less accepted in theory but can't find many who have actually done it

That thread was actually which gave me this idea. Which is why I was hoping someone might be able to give me the measurements for the compression height. Chances of someone having the piston lying around was always gibba be slim!

Will do, I'll take some photos tomorrow. I've managed to find on another forum that the compression height is 8.3mm shorter than the standard piston so back to square one.

I'd actually be happy to fit a OEM replacement piston if I could only find a supplier. Anyone know somewhere I might find them? Only place I could even find a listing is bikebandit.com although it's out of stock

If you are using the post above proceed with caution. The project has not been finished :-X

The engine does run. Cranking compression is 175 with the head milled to get 10.2 compression ratio.

So for whoever is interested and can't get these parts for their bike...after doing a bit of digging online, have found a company in Germany that supplies oem piston kits for this plus various other manufacturers
