Would like some opinions on a CB450 found in New Jersey

I have been looking for a bike for quite sometime now. I have never ridden before but am taking classes soon and would like to be ready with a bike. I would love it if you guys could give my our opinion on this bike I found on craigslist. I know that $4500 is on the high side but I could probably talk him down quite a bit.

I've been looking for something that isn't totally stock but hasn't been totally brutalized yet.

If you can talk him down to.about $2000 I'd say go for it.

Looks like a nice bike, but I think 4500 is way too high even with the mods he's made. I think you could talk him down a lot. If he's set on his price, there are plenty of other bikes out there.

Looks ok, but its only a 5 speed trans, it looks like he cut the rear of the feame and added no bracing, looks like old tires, has mikunis on it...who knows how well they are tuned...just to name a few things.
Like Von said, if you can get him down a lot on the price, itd be a good starting point. If i were you, id look for something stock and do the work yourself.

Yeah, no way I'd be a buyer at that price. At 4,500 i would expect that every nut and bolt on that engine has been cleaned up, but that left cam adjuster nut looks rusted to hell. This is just my opinion though.
