This was a barn find in October of 09, start building in November. Almost done in January and then laxed up until now. I HAVE ONE QUESTION? What sort of stuff are you guys using to clean and coat your tanks? Im getting mixed messages. The tank has a bit of surface rust on the inside, but I would like to refinish it on the inside. Any help would be appreciated. Here are some pics of the sled.

i took my tank to Gas Tank Renu

if you don't have one in your area try a rad shop most of them will line a small tank like that

I've seen nothing but crappy results from Kreme, but have head great luck with the POR-15 kits. relativley easy to do, but a little time consuming to do right.

Some radiator shops can do it. The Por-15 kits the way to go though. Just follow the directions.

woah, this thing reminds me of the garage co XS650. did they build it for you?
dope frame, i want to build something like that as my next bobber

I've had Kreme done right and it's pretty good. Depends on the application, it can be crap to pretty good.

POR 15 otoh, is at least good to great. It's the better way to go IMO.

(unless you can find someone to do the purple aircraft grade stuff. I used to use a shop in CA that wasn't *supposed* to have the stuff, but did anyways. No receipt, no checks, no warranty. Stank like death mixed with burnt beans. But DAMN did it do the job!!!!)

(BTW: ^^^ That is a bad-ass XS650!!!!)

Here are some more up to date pics with a bigger front wheel, and new bar.

The forks aren't cut down to size yet. And I still cant decide on the combination for the bike.
Frame is going Gloss Black, but the wheels and seat can't decide on it. ???.
Any input?

so no front fork travel?

Really not digging that bar combo, but thats just an opinion.

I think more polish would be cool to match the tank.

Any criticism is appreciated. This was my first build and its tough to get rite the first time.
I lowered it just to see how it would look, but I leaving 3 1/2 inch travel, just because its already a rigid frame.
Im actually going to polish the whole frame, forks, tank, pedal assembly and seat pan. I was thinking of painting the frame, but it doesn't do it justice.
Any comments appreciate. I want to win first place at the supershow. Go toe to toe with the harleys. ;D

hey this might be a dumb question but how do you go about polishing the frame? i didnt know you could. and once its bare metal how do you keep it from rusting? clean coat the bare metal? like i said might be a dumb question but just wondering. Bike looks awesome by the way!
