@riotten22, did you have the seat custom made by benjis? The reason I ask: I have seen the benjis body work on other bikes and the seats seem shorter than yours and I know that benji has done custom one off seats for people before.

Seat came matched to the fiberglass seat so nothing specialn. It all depends on what style fiberglass kit you order, there is a dolphin kit which I have, Whale kit, pina kit and others.

Here are some new pics, Wrapped headers, added 2.25" side mirror and license plate. Will post updated sound clip this evening.

I love the wrap. Everything is looking great! I wanted to ask you..........does your bike shift smoothly and easily with your rearsets? My xs seems so stiff to change gears. I had to shorten my lever some but I never rode it before so I have nothing to compare it to. I might lengthen the arm and see if that makes a difference. Keep up the good work.

with all that money you put into the bike, you think you'd be able to afford a jacket and helmet.

nice bike, regardless

Same boat here, I never rode the xs400 before the build so couldnt tell what it should have felt like. It seems to shift smoothly like to smoothly IMO because I can barely tell that it shifted...

Over here in Iowa, we like to ride our suicide machines without helmets :-\. I know its stupid but I cant bring myself to wear one around town.

Stupid is as stupid does - as they say. Fortunate then that accidents don't happen in town. Eh.

Love this bike and style.

In KS there are no helmet laws. So we see riders in sneakers, shorts, tanks blasting through the city. I live right next door in MO with a helmet law. But I ride with boots, jacket & full face. From time to time I'll scoot down my country road without a helmet but for a matter of minutes.

Fine! You know better than everyone here! Enjoy giving the rest of us a bad name.

I never claimed to "know better" than anyone here. It is my choice to ride with a helmet or not and it is my choice to ride with a fork brace or not. Thanks for your consideration.

Took some of the last pics of this bike :( Guy from Hawaii saw it on ebay and after his check clears next week it will be on a long journey to Honolulu. Sad to see it go but I need to fund the next project / toy.

Just think, the next bike you build will be better now that you have the experience of this one under your belt!
It takes some balls to sell something like that, in my opinion. I still own every bike I've bought, I don't have what
it takes to sell them.

This is obviously not a machine you're gonna go knee-dragging across the back roads with, it's an aesthetically-pleasing little 400 cc city bike. These things didn't go fast enough to get into trouble with in the first place. It's the kind of little bike that you'd cruise down to the coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon and try to pick up the cute artsy chicks hanging out there. ;) Anybody that's going to take this bike and try to earn their road racing wings with it should probably fall victim to natural selection anyhow.

Try jumping off the back of a pickup truck at 50mph one day in a open face helmet and I'm sure it will remind you that high speed is very low for the human body.....

Nope, it doesn't take very high speeds to get hurt badly. That is precisely why I wouldn't jump off of the back of a truck at 50, or be jack assing around on a bike with no fork brace and 1940's Firestones on it. The biggest key to motorcycle safety is to know the limitations of your skills, and your machine's capabilities.

Thanks Madmatt ! At least someone understands what this bike was built for :)
