Xs500 engine swap possibilities?

I'm getting excited about how my bike is coming out.
I've glass beaded the forks, hubs and a few misc. other items.
Before I set up my rear sets I need to decide on an engine.
The original twin is out. Too heavy I want a bike I can ride on
the street but maybe take to the track too. I'm thinking about
an xt600 motor or maybe 2 stroke. Not sure if an xt motor will
fit. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm always thinking big single, but you'd probably have exhaust interference with that frame. Definitely could be cool to pop a smoker in there, exhaust ports would be low enough to mayyyybe squeeze between the down tubes.

I bet a Kaw triple would work...

A big single would be rad, as long as the track you're talking about is dirt and an oval.
 
CR500,KX500,KTM300. This pic is CR500. Or maybe a Blaster 200 atv motor!

Some interesting suggestions for sure. The engine cradle looks relatively tall and short, so a single might be the way to go.
 
I was just testing the waters in the event there was something that I had not thought of and you didn't disappoint.

Oh? My friend was a Blue Crew rider who won the Horizon award on one this year also won his ticket to the pros at Lrettas last year and is riding a KTM450 for BTO in Davie Milsaps spot next weekend as a signed pro.

Benny Bloss lined up on that backwards 450 at Iron man right out of Loretta's and took a solid 17 OA in his first big show... all with the best there watching because the Legends were there with Jeff Emig, Guy Cooper, Tim Ferry, Jeff Stanton, Ricky Carmichael and K-Dub.
 
JS7, Reed, Barcia hasn't been the same since getting on JGR. Dungey may even suck on a blue bike. Heck look how well Brayton is doing on the KTM now.

Stewart never could race a 450 well. reed was riding with frustration, i never seen such fits in the pits than him back when he was close to the points. Barcia is a good rider but is an asshole worse than me... kid supper fades after he tries too hard, sometimes you need to slow down to go fast Dungy haha yeah he is almost as good as Villipoto was.

JB 10 is a good friend of my best friend and a Fort Dodge bred rider, all of these guys hung out at The Farm outside of Desmonies Iowa and my son still goes to Fort Dodge and Storm Lake to tree bash... Justin and Benny Bloss are on the BTO KTM team now, hopefully when Davie is well BTO keeps Benny for the outdoors... Kid is a giant bean but good head and rides like fluid through a pipe.
 
Hey at least we have something to talk about now. Davi is going to Canada according to vital so Bloss may keep that ride.

Bloss needs a start this week, he can ride up front and stalks lines for the kill, just has to get in the main this week... I can see his mom and dad pacing already.
