XS'er from Calgary

Hey everyone, heard of the board from TINTIN... I've talked to 650RR as well,

Ive wanted an xs for a few years now...all the hot rodders are running them instead of triumphs...since hot rodders are usually cheap.

I found the triumphs and xs's from my hot rod hunting...i have a 1928 Model a coupe (body) and a 28 Model a Tudor (body), a frame, a 327, tripower intake, diff, trans etc...so i'm building a 60's style hot rod as well.

and i got into hot rods after building my 1964 Chevy 1/2 ton, its on air ride...full switches on board compressor...disc brakes, and i EFI'd the '79 350...stole the intake from a 92 corvette. It needs bodywork and paint, and a 5 lug rear diff. Its my daily driver, winter too.

So i've got three or is it 4...projects on the go, i'm 21 so i've got some time to finish...

heres the bike so far...taking my course next week, have almost all the parts to finish the bike...

I'm going to start begging for parts already too...

i bought some used (58 miles on them !!) 36mm Mikuni roundslides off a forum all jetted for a xs650...he sent them up with exhaust pipes, when they got here there was two exhaust pipes and only one carb...and a resealed box.

so my carb is on some USPS truck somewhere, or bounced off onto the highway, or sitting at a depot, or on some postal workers scoot.

I need ONE vm36 carb...or some other performance carbs for an XS650.

So dig through those boxes...dust off those race relics, what have you got to sell a hardworking young lad ??
I'll ride the hell out of it, i promise.

Jason

Welcome!

Man... two young bloods in the last few days!

If you happen to have any extra bits for the XS about keep me in mind... I've got one on the go as well.

And here I was thinking it was cool to have 1 cafe racer and a rebuilt dirtbike under my belt at 22 y/o...

I would def like to see the truck you have goin on. My dream hotrod is a 60's chevy Pickup (or a restored el-camino ss) - But right now I'm leaning toward an s-10 (cheaper parts and more reliable as a daily driver) with bags, sprayed flat black - as soon as I can save up the loot from civil engineering workterms (anyone got any hookups in TO for a civil student? Keep me in mind for next summer + ;D).
Although Dad and I restored a 78 Corvette... and sold it...

Your bike looks great. I'd say you'll have it on the go in no time flat.

P.S. Being from Newfoundland I know PLENTY of people there in Calgary - most of which are my buddies who migrated there after highschool... No cafe racers though.

Reminds of a joke I made up the last time I was in Calgary...

"The only Canadians who relocate to Winnipeg are maritimers who run out of gas money on the way to Calgary" ;D

I think the tank is an xs750 no? What year frame is it? I'm considering losing the rear foot peg mounts from my '72 frame, which has the stamped plate mounts vs. the later bent tubes. Some pretty big welds holding the plates to the frame so I wasn't totally committed just yet.
