RE: tires - in saving past posts from other SR250 owners, the consensus seems to be that (with stock wheels) the max size tire is a 100/90-18 front and 130/90-16 rear. When you say "chunky", how off-road are you looking? I've had my eye on a Kenda Enduro 100/90-18 K270 tire for my front like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KENDA-ENDURO-K270-MOTORCYCLE-DUAL-SPORT-TIRE-100-90-18-/230885083803?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c1d2ca9b&vxp=mtr and a Vee rubber 120/90-16 VRM 163 tire for the rear like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vee-Rubber-120-90-16-VRM-163-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire-Free-Shipping-/390557458366?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aef09dfbe&vxp=mtr. I also saw another SR250 build that used Pirelli 90/90-18 MT60s on the front and Bridgestone 120/90-16 Trail Wing TW40s on the rear.

I'm looking for a tire for 90% road 10% off. I think the k270 is a bit too chunky for my type of riding. The Pirelli you mentioned comes from the Mexico Tracker build, and I believe that a 19in not an 18? I don't believe Pirelli make an 18in mt60. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty set on the Duro Median 130/90 16 rear. Just need a 100/90 18 front tire, similar to the duro.

Keep in mind I'm using an XVS front end. (Rims are the same width and size)

Thanks!

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Kenda K761 FRONT AND REAR tire? The appear to be same tread pattern....is it a big no to use a rear on the front for all tires or just some?

Thanks

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Frame rusted too easily when it was raw, even when clearcoated. Powdercoated in 'dark charcoal' - ended up coming out as a deep blue.

Welded 4mm plates to mount seat and add stiffness. Bent the rear plate over the edges for signal mounts.

Engine painted in VHT wrinkle - turned out ok - some places not as wrinkled as others.

Trestles + plank = good fold away workbench

You are correct about the Mexico build. I originally thought it was a typo as I thought all SR250s had an 18" front tire. Checking on the Pirelli (USA) site shows that the MT60 only comes in 19" and 21" fronts (and 17" rears). But their Scorpion Trail comes in a 100/90-18 http://www.pirelli.com/tire/us/en/motorcycle/sheet/scorpion_trail.html?url=%3Fsubtype%3Doff-road.

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

More tire talk, apologies.

OPTION 1;

KENDA K761 110/80 x 18 + DURO MEDIAN 130/90 x 16

OPTION 2;

Replace 16in rear with 18in rim from old wheel. 2 x HEIDENAU K67 4.0 18

OPTION 3;

FIRESTONE ANS/TRADITIONAL 5.0 x 16 and 4.0 x 18

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

How about swapping the 16" rear wheel for an 18" and going with 2 Kenda K761s? BTW - if you do the swap you will need to document all the parts/effort :D

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Quick seat pan. Coffin-ish, I like it.

Fiberglass rear fender to match width of rear tire. I'm going to cut halfway along the risen bit to created a ducktail kinda thing. Bondo and paint to come..

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Gave my seatpan to the upholsterer with a picture of jdizon's XS650 seat

Thanks!

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Cut up an old front fender for the rear.

Clip-ons mounted above the triples, it kind of looks like pegasus' wings. Does anyone know where I can find a set of RISERLESS tracker bars?

Coming together...

Re: Yamaha SR Cafe/Bobber

Exhaust options;

1) Supertrapp Universal Alloy Racing Series

2) Cherry Bomb - already have one lying around. I would use a lot of baffling but might be too loud and open?

3) Emgo style shorty cone muffler. We all know what it looks like.

Have a look at Norman Hyde M Bars. Might be what you want.
