Yamaha SR250 Brat

No, you don't want the Firestones if you want handling and performance. Something like Bridgestone BT-45 or even cheap Shinko 712 will be worlds better.

Are you sure you have a CDI? I think you are correct so use your manual for a proceedure to test the source coil for resistance. A shorting source coil is a common reason a CDI won't fire.

DON'T DO IT!

As I have said before they have about as much grip as bowling shoes on an ice rink.

See if you can get some Dunlop K70 or K82. They have a vintage look and will stick well enough for what a SR can put out.

EDIT: because bowling shoes and blowing shoes are two different things.
Thanks mate, appreciate the feed back. Looks like I will be steering clear of the firestone vintage!

By source coil do you mean ignition coil? If so I did get it tested and it was fine. Put a new lead on and still didn't get a spark. My battery is dead but I have a kick start so am I correct in saying a kick start should start with a flat battery?

The SR is one of those bikes that needs some charge in the battery to run. My bet is that is the reason you have no spark. I had the same problem lol.

Just replaced the cdi... no love.
Shit, I dont have a battery charger. I'm going to try and roll start it, would that work?

Nahh it needs a bit more power than that.

Have you tested the battery voltage?

I let the battery totally run flat while I was re wiring it and testing. It is a new ANTIGRAVITY battery. Lithion iron. the thing is tiny, it needs a special charger that cost around $100 so I'm trying to avoid bying it if I don't have too.
I just tried roll starting it and it sounded like it wanted to kick over and i got a low glow in the head light but it just doesn't quite kick over.

With Anti-grav and Ballistic batteries it can kill them if it run too low. If you feel like running around a lot I have been able to start my SR from a dead battery.

I found that the stock headlight would draw more power than the battery and charging coil could output. Hence dead battery the next morning.

Does the starter want to move around at all when you hit the button?

Jump start that beast with a Car battery (leave car off if it's still in the car)......Then drive it until it holds a charge....Then get a 750 and put a kit on it ;)

i have the same battery on my 360, did the same thing when wiring but it came back fine and holds a charge like nothing happened.

Those batteries require some TLC when charging, do yourself a favor and get the charger. I think I got mine for 35 bucks and its a cheap investment for your 150$ battery

I dont have electric start, only kick start. I'll keep trying to roll start. I need the exercise any way!

haha it's tempting but might get a charger if I cant roll start it as I don't want to fork out $170 for a new battery.

Were did you get a charger that cheap. I looked at the site and the cheapest I could see was $70 + postage?

It was some time ago, it was a package deal buy a battery and get the charger for cheap. I asked DCC to match and they said they couldn't....

Keep an eye out for deals, in the mean time look on antigravity's website for charge tips without their charger

Ya need a balance charger for those lifePO4 cell type batteries.

I have one if you need to borrow it to charge it up mate. I have no idea how to use it tho, I bought it for an Antigravity/Ballistic battery I was going to buy but never did.

You're in Melbs? I'm just in Brunswick. I've also rewired a sr250 as well if you need any help on it. Also think I have a pdf workshop manual somewhere for it if you want it too.
