Hey guys! It's been a while since I have been on this forum, and it's good to be back. I'm interested in picking up a gasket set for a friend's '76 XS360, and I'm not seeing a lot of options out there. This is pretty much the only one I'm seeing:
Does anyone know if this bike shares parts with any others? I'm having a hell of a time finding rings too... just wondering if maybe some of this stuff is interchangeable with the 400cc model, or any of the other Yamahas. The bike has been siting for a while and I want to go through the motor for him before he tries to fire it up.
I kicked it over a couple times the other day just for fun... it seems to have reasonable compression (didn't do a test as I plan on pulling it apart anyway) but there is a strange "spinning type of sound that is hard to track down as the kicker returns. It may be coming from within the right side case, but I have not opened it up yet to find out. The sound begins right after I kick all the way through, and it sounds like a loose washer or bearing spinning on a shaft, and lasts for a good couple seconds.
Anyone have any idea what this could be?? I can't say I have heard anything like this before. Come to think of it, there was also a strange "klunk" sound if I put it into a high gear and push the bike. Any thoughts or ideas on either of these issues would be appreciated before I pull it apart.
Okay thanks, that's helpful. Do you know anything about the rings? Also, why not fill up a squirt bottle for wetsanding? Do you have a build thread going?
I saw that this morning after putting some more time into my search, thank you sir. I am however learning that STD rings are pretty much non existent. I guess I'll open it up and hope for the best.
I would still be interested to hear if anyone knows of any rings from other bikes that may fit.
