Yep! Another CB350

Here's my build so far. It's a 72. I made a rear hoop to tie the rear of the frame together. De-tabbed it, and made a light weight kick stand for it. I bought a set of Excel rims and got to work polishing the hubs. I cut cooling slots in the drum hubs, and made scoops for them. I have started the exhaust and am now waiting for my carbs to get here. I formed a rear seat pod out of aluminum to match my tank, and have started the seat extension for it. Still got a ways to go on this one. Luckily I have a 71 I can ride while I'm building this one.

The rear seat pod isn't finished in this pic. I had just welded the sides panels to to the top.

Sorry the pics are so bright. My lights in the shop are make photos glare really bad.

Your rear seat pod is damn beautiful! Very nice work! What color are you thinking of going with on the bike?

That is the million dollar question Az. I have been banging my head against the paint bench trying beat a color into my mind. I still haven't decided yet though. My dad had a 74 Elsinore when I was a kid. I loved the color combo on that bike. I may go with a silver met, with black and green stripes on top the tank and seat pod. That's just a thought though. The only colors I am sure of, are that the frame will be gloss black powder coat, and I will have some semi gloss black accents on the motor and elsewhere!

Here's another seat pod pic, complete with un ground weld on the side, and black marker center line on it still. ;D Thanks for compliment Az.

I say, clean it, paint the indents black and clear it!

But, then I say..........Black frame, black indents with copper or olive green color. Doesn't matter. With the styling you have going on you could paint it fusha pink and it would still look good. Seriously, that is probably the best looking rear end I have seen. I am talking about the bike. 8)

Is the notch on the back end for a cateye light?

Yo. I think you are doing yourself a disservice ...... that's a bit more than just 'another CB350'
Like it :)

Well rest assured Az that I am not painting it pink! I wouldn't shy away from Olive green though. The notch in the back is for the tail light but not a cat eye. I have something a little different in mind. I am sorting that out now. I'll post it when I get it finished.

I can't wait to get it finished either Yogi. I've been working on it for about a year already. I have 4 project bikes I am doing right now, that are mine. That doesn't include customer bikes I'm working on.

Thanks for the compliment Erskine.

Your fab work is looking awesome!!! Any chance you have any pics of the fab work on the seat bump? would love to see how you hammered out that shape. Keep the good work up - looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I shaped teh top contour first to match the shape of the tank.

The I made the two side panels with the incerts in them.

Trimmed them, then but welded them together.

I was going to make the tank out of aluminum but I like the shape of the one thats on it, I already have fuel petcocks that fit it, so why bother. I am going to paint it anyway.

The complete build so far is on my website if you want to see more. The link should be in my profile. If it doesn't show up for you just IM me, I'll send you a link.

Man that thing is looking sweet. Love those indents in the seat bumb that match the tank ones. I agree I don't think this is going to be just "another CB350"

Great looking build...the tank and rear section flow great together, I'll be tuning in! :D

Nice bike, how's the build coming on....... Can I ask what tires do you have on your bike?

Thanks

P

Been busy with customers bikes and my sons street tracker project, so I haven't done much to my Cafe. I did finaly get some time to get my seat plate made and got it welded to the rear pod. I should get my carbs in a few days then i can get the rest of my exhaust parts ordered. I should also have my tail light lenses in a few days as well. Hopefully I can get some time to get something done on this build. Here's some pics of the seat/rear pod assembly.

This is before I welded it to the rear pod.

I'll get some more pics of this once my carbs get in, and I am able to move it back on my lift.

Hi Ya,

Sweet bike. I too am doing yet another CB350 :) did you use stock spokes to lace up the excel rims to your hubs?

thanks.
