yet another version of a no weld seat

Here's my attempt…basically following the no weld metal tank options... I found an old cb seat for a few dollars that was in need of serious attention.... I looked around and found an old 73 Yamaha off-road bike tank for a few bucks... and noticed that it had a nice shape and allowed for drilling the back out for a circular break light...

I found some dense foam from and old seat to make the insert

That's old tank has(had?) a neat shape to it and makes for a cool look tail piece. What is it off of?

I have often thought of using fiberglass/aluminum wheel pants of a light plane.old scooter, harness(horse) racing or cheap half helmets to use as bum stops/tail pieces.

I have a really cool, vintage, lightweight, slender, aftermarket plastic fuel tank that would make a great little bum stop, but it is in too good of shape to cut it up!

This one:
I have no idea who what company made it,but it has an aluminum cap and even two aluminum pet cocks, very neat.

the tank was a 73 yamaha offroad tank...i'm not sure..but I thought it was a 350/360?...that's what was marked in grease pen.. really not sure... I went to a bike salvage yard and started diggin... the gas cap and front were screwed up... but the rear shape was in good shape... I'm hopeful I can find a way to bondo over (with a light coat) and sand it... I'd like the reat to be painted to match my tank...

Anyone know if there is anything special I need to do the the plastic before bondo?

my goal is to find some black vinyl and cover the seat and rear insert. I'm looking at a round tailight that would be cut into the rear...i've seen a few bikes with this on the web.... looked cool...

thanks,
Shep

Thanks for the info.

For my old FZR I used a blue filler made for fiberglass as it bonded better to it. Can't remember the name of it. Got it at a boby shop supply/wholesale place. You may be able to find the best filler for your needs if you call/go into one of those places and ask them what's the best stuff for your project.

HA!.... no. only the demented leave their porn in the garage... it belongs under the bed... HA!!!

That was to remove all the empty beer bottles that were lined up for recycle...

Thanks,

the tail light was cheap cheap.... only about $5.00 at Schucks Auto parts ( Tacoma, Wash) probably the same at any Kragen, or Pep Boys...etc..
