Me: Recent college graduate with two degrees from "The Harvard of the South" and zero jobs (!). But, a big passion for vintage motorcycles of all forms.

Ride(s): Just picked up a 1976 Honda CB750K that had a large amount of restoration work already done/conversion work to turn it into a nice little cafe racer. Problem? Ethanol ruined fiberglass tank, carbs out of wack, and a case of no-riding-itis. Currently have it running just about perfect. Starts first kick (starter button broke!) and runs like a top, 21000 miles and all.

Just shipped the tank off though (BCR tank/tail section) to be repaired and hopefully by the end of October, will have paint and everything finally done.

It's my first exposure to a four-cylinder vintage ride as the other previous rides in our family garage include a Yamaha XS650 (750 kit, a lot of engine work, set up close to cafe racer), Yamaha TT500s set up in numerous forms, and numerous small displacement Hondas and others throughout the years.

Also have a soft spot for some Harley Davidsons, mostly Sporters and or tube-frame Buells (2000 Buell S3 is modern ride).

But, like the vintage stuff...alot! Trying to keep it alive in my generation.

So where exactly is the "Harvard of the south?" I did a search, but Duke, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss were all claiming that title.

i hear you on the no job thing. even trying to find an internship is proving difficult. what did you graduate with?

I think it is UF.

Harvard of the South is supposed to be (according to professors...) Stetson University. Located just north of Orlando. Small school with only about 2100-2300 undergraduates/graduate students. Great school despite the, err, rather steep price tag.

I graduated with two degrees; one in math, and the other in biology. Took a lot of applied math courses to coincide with biology and my physics minor. Regardless, none of them are really helping me. Plan on teaching now for a few years, then maybe head back to school. Teaching would give me plenty of time to ride, so I'm hip to the idea :)

I actually got the cafe bug after I met some kids from UF at bike week at the AHRMA races. There was a group of about 5-7 guys that rode down from Gainesville on some CB350s/750Ks that were down very nicely. Decided to get off the motard wagon and go back to the vintage scene, and just got lucky to pickup my CB750 after I sold my DR650.

Stetson... I've been through Deland. It took me about 5 minutes to reach the other end. ;D

I have seen some cafe bikes around here, but I never see anyone on/around them.
