    First Project - 76 CB750F !

Don't give up. Don't be overwhelmed. This is doable. You just have to have the flexibility of mind to know that it is... It may be confusing at times but I've found the people around here are very willing to help you help yourself.

    First Project - 76 CB750F !

I'm in the process of rebuilding carbs on my first bike, which is my first project... Just to confirm, from a guy who's going through something similar to what you are: having the manual (and having the things off the bike and in front of you) really does make things much easier to understand...

Ordered up a mess of parts Saturday. Then I went into the garage, pulled the carbs and started taking them apart and cleaning. Aside from the gaskets they seem like they're in decent shape. The floats seems solid etc. When I get the gaskets in I'll put them back together and keep them off the...

So tomorrow I'm sitting down and going through my manual and making a parts list. Money will be spent, parts will be bought, shipping will be paid...

That's an interesting thread to read through. It's something I'll give some thought to after I get the bike running and start thinking about what direction I want to take the "final project".

I originally wanted that "open" look under the seat... but I'll take some slick covers and an airbox that makes a bike run well over the open look if it comes down to it.

As it stands I don't intend to make a jump to pods. I've heard a lot about the engineering that went into the airbox and things seem to work happier/easier with one in use. Speaking of - Where does one find the airbox filter? Mine seems to be in tough shape. I don't know what I'm going to do...

Looks like a great source. I'm going to start looking for gaskets et. al. today. I really need to get my parts list together!

Haha, oh that's deviously brilliant! Fear not, your secret is safe with me. Joking aside thank you for the assist on the parts place recommendation. It's always nice to know where "the people are going" so you know you're not getting ripped off.

Anyone have a URL for ordering from Honda online? I'll fire up The Google Machine if not. Cables seem to be all good but I'm not sure just yet. If they even look like they need replacing I'll do so.

Thanks for the manual post, Tim. We've got that printed, along with the carb manual, a parts list. We've been reading the crap out of all of this. We're going to start to step through maintenance next week when I have money for carb kits, gasket/seal kit, etc.

Just an update from tooling around in the garage today: I put in a set of spark plugs today after removing the old ones and finding that the gap was wrong and they were covered in black crud. I also bought a charger just to see if the battery might hold a charge. After installing the spark...

Again, thank you for the input! I am hoping very much to focus on seat time. So my total goal is now to get this bike on the road. And you're completely right, the bike will stand out plenty on its own. That said I really don't care much about that at the moment... I want to have fun riding and...
