1975 CB125 Tracker project

I'm not always a sidecover guy, but I agree w/ ya. First thing I thought when I saw your pix was that the nice color (sorry, colour) would look even better if the thing had side covers.

Ha ha... One vote for, one vote against, guess Jim and I cancel each other out.

Re-pop covers are around $50-60 shipped X-Thailand so not too expensive. I have a set of CB750 ones in a parts bin I can sand and paint and throw on for proof of concept. Then we can make a black bag and compare and see which looks better.

The Side Panel Paradox. Morally unethical, creatively discombobulating. Good luck with that one Mike.
Woh, there may actually be a split in the Space/Time Continuum. Hang on fellas we could be in for a bumpy ride!

Hey Maritime, bike is coming along great. I really like the color choice, would look nice with a burnt-orange leather saddle, just my 2cents in the well.

I went the route of making side covers for my 100. I’ve only done the right side so far, but it wasn’t too hard. Only $10 worth of sheet metal too, which is why I did it. Takes a good amount of work, but can be knocked out in a day. Either way, love how this thing is turning out!

You can also make side covers from wreck take-offs collected from your local dealership. Cut with a vibrating mult-tool and glue up with ABS plumbing cement.

Ha, and the inside has already flash rusted. I think I will grab a jug of metal rescue and use that for one last cleannout then just drain it and add wd40 or 2stroke oil immediately. It was all clean bare metal inside. The water rinse to get rid of the viniger flash rusted before it got dry.

After dumping the vinegar out of the gas tank I rinse with a garden hose then use compressed air to blow out most of the water. After its mostly dry I spray WD-40 inside the tank and use compressed air to get it inside all the nooks and crannies. Being fast with this method has reduced flash rust for me.

Thanks. I have one more rust out to do, going to try metal rescue for the last one and leave it in there for a few days or more. I'll then do the compressed air dry and WD 40 trick.

Proof of concept underway. This looks very close to the factory repops. Will mount and paint it and see what it looks like.
