So since last I updated I've shortened my headlight ears to the absolute minimal. I blasted them and clear coated them and mounted them as well. Also I've relocated my ignition switch to under the tank using some scrap 1/8" aluminum. I also polished the aluminum. Twisted was there to help with mounting the ignition plate. He had an idea to use some steel conduit mounting straps. We bent them up and I sprayed them with bedliner. Also I 've begun the process of cleaning and repolishing the aluminum on my engine. The biggest news is that my tank is in primer gassing out right now. In a few hours, weather permitting, I'm going to start spraying color! The tank looks great. I thought it would never get done, and I could still work on it for hours, but I'm calling it done. The primer coat is smooth over the tank and that's good enough for now. This is the third coat of primer with sanding and filling between coats. I used Duplicolor Filler Primer. I probably did 40 coats of bondo through the whole tank. It was a lot of work making that beat-up tank look good again, but it was worth it. The shape of the tank has changed slightly as I used bondo to create bulges and new lines. Anyway here are the pics!

Here are the world's tightest headlight ears. The bucket is almost toucing three different things and actually touching the speedo.
And the tank! I also decided to smooth out where the emblems go.
Here's a shot of the engine. Told ya I've been cleaning...
The deadline for this current rebuild is July 31st. There's a local show that I want Dolores to shine in. I've still got to remove the exhaust and repaint the wrap, touch up the old paintwork all over the bike, button up a little bit of wiring, finish the paintwork on the tank and tail, finish cleaning the motor, install the rebuilt brake caliper and lower stainless brake lines, and install the cb360 clutch cable. Whew... that's a lot! I don't think I'll have my shorter throttle cables on in time for the show, but if I have time I'm going to throw the set from robbie's 250 onto my bike. Wish me luck. The next update will be finished paintwork!
