That was a perfect choice! Man it looks sooooo good! I'm seriously considering that now, especially due to the fact that my engine needs a minor touch up.
yeah i hear that...mine was gettin a lil sloppy around the feet positions...so i decided it was a more durable alternative and I ended up going nuts with the paint and have painted random accessories all over with the wrinkle paint. Get some, go nuts...you won't be disappointed.
carbs are engine enamel. and the tops are wrinkle paint....in the pics its still drying. Seems to be pretty solid. i spilled gas all over them when i was changing the jets and no problems on the enamel on the carbs themselves.
Greg, no rearsets yet. not sure how im going to do that with passenger pegs. gotta have room for my lady! I've got most the front end pulled apart, just need a spanner wrench (any idea what size?) to remove the headset. Then the parts should be in shortly and i'll put her back together. Tank and tail are going to be a super retarded awesome color of metallic grey/silver and should be done in the next couple days. you should come by and we can drink beer and whiskey and put 'er back together. i'll hit you up when the parts arrive.
Tank and tail painted a lovely metallic graphite color...new 7'' headlight painted with VHT wrinkle plus and added a nice stone guard screen over the headlight...should be put back together this week!
Elvira is back in action...new paint, headlight, clipons, gauges, pegs, bolts, nuts....you get the picture. Exhaust comes in today, then it'll be done.
so i'm playing around with the idea of pinstripes. I like the shape but am thinking i want to do it a bit thicker and in black instead of red...I welcome any thoughts or suggestions!
i bought the seat pan...took it to a local upholstery shop and picked out what i wanted...they did a damn good job and it only cost about $100 with materials. No complaints. What do you think about the red pinstripes? should i swap for black? not sure they work well with the bike--kindof detracts from the nice paint job.
I like the idea of bringing more red into the bike, but I'm not sure how I feel about those pin stripes. I thought about how it would look if you didn't cut around the knee pads and the entire side was red... but I don't think I liked that. Then I thought, maybe just one pinstripe on the bottom... like a continuation of the stripe on the seat to the tank (and maybe a red emblem?). Then I thought I have no clue what I'm talking about and whatever you come up with is going to be killer.
well...i've got the exhaust fully clamped and supported, tuned up the carbs and things seem to be running on the superb side...finally got a chance to shoot a couple nice shots...more to come.
Lookin' slick buddy.....
Have a suggestion as far as design goes....ever consider having the outer rims painted black, then having a pinstriper run a red line around them? (and possibly red anodized spoke nipples as well)
Would really bring everything together and just put it over the top into a show winner
