'81 CB750C "Rock-It" (X-Basket Case)

if you want a durable clearcoat to go over polished metal check out por-15 glisten PC and eastwood diamond clear (never used the eastwood stuff). These products are better than anodization or clear powdercoat if applied correctly. You can even put them over polished iron and steel. If you want to seal it but not coat it you could use eastwood shark hide or zoopseal. If it were me I'd probably just have them chromed. I think the polished look would be total boss though!

I found it and posted to follow along, nice!
Scottyfunj: The engine is painted with Duplicolors Engine Enamel and the color is their # 1650. Use it on all my builds as the color match is almost perfect to the factory paint. If the prep is thurough it holds up really well.

Sorry, one more question about this engine enamel. About how many cans did you go through?

Buy two, one will probably cover if you are just doing the case, but a good finish needs 3 or more coats and the last thing I want to do is run to town and try and get back with a second can in the recoat time it recomends.... you can use the remainder on other parts. ;)
DCC order came today!!! ;D

Todays project was neck bearings and triple trees.
Yesterday I removed the lower bearing from the pivot shaft an Cleaned / Painted the lower triple. This morning I knocked the outer races from the frame neck and installed my new AllBalls kit. Then I fired up the new Harbor Freight buffer and went to town on the aluminum upper and handle bar clamp. Put the lower in the freezer and the new lower bearing under the shop light.
Saftisfied with my buffing job I lubed and assembled it... Oh yea, it'll do.

Are those the aluminum turn signals from DCC? I used those on my CB650 build and am very happy with them. They look great and are very nice quality.

No better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Just wait Pete, If it goes according to plan, I might have to issue welding helmets to innocent bystanders. ;)

Worst cb650 ever: Yep.. same ones. I used them on my GL1100 project a few years ago and there are awesome.

These handle bar clamp / top triple are also the fuse block. I don't think it would look right with clip-ons... no matter how bad I want them. I am thinking either clubmans or straight dragbar "broomsticks". Depending on how the fairing lines up. But these are on my "watch list" on e-bay...

I was considering something like those from ebay. My issue is, there really is no telling the quality of the items. Look on ebay, bar end mirrors range from $10/pair to $70 individual. That's all I'm saying anyway.

The bars and mirrors do look nice though.

I have seen the ebay bar ends up close and even the cheap ones are pretty damn good. Without rubber mounting they still don't vibrate while you're riding.

One vote for clubmans here! I think clubmans really match your style, and with the fairing???? I think it would look perfect!

I dunno man, I agree but dragbars feel pretty good to me. We will see where the headlamp set the fairing and how it's openings line up to the handlebay clamp I guess.
After some more time cleaning and polishing, Thursday after work I did some assembly and have this to show...

Man that looks really good, btw, what would a sane man be doing up at this hour? My excuse, going hunting, in front of a hurricane! haha

Regarding the bars, for me its about my pain tolerance, the lower I lean in the more it hurts when I get there. Drag bars look good too, I think. :)
