How arbitrary is 44 ? A mystical age where insurance underwriters just don't care anymore or an epiphany occurs where the gods of motorcycling combined anoint a rider with blessed skills ...
I have found recently , just south of me , several interesting projects . A KZ440 (that by the way will flat stomp the Honda and Yamaha) in an aluminium dirtbike frame with street fittings . An old school XL350 in a RD350 frame . A powroll XL250 in a redline chrome molly dirt track frame all caff'd out . Several water cooled dirtbike singles in street twin chassis and last but not least a street driven CR500 . They all have one thing in common . All the hard work has been done and they are unfinished projects for under 2k .
You're just looking in all the wrong places or lost track of your imagination . It's time to make use of google's image search with some unique terms . Not too long ago I posted a pic of a Roland Sands thing that had a CR500 in it . There's even some youtube of it around .
Sometimes you have to be lucky others you have to be bright . Still others you have to follow the beat of a different drum and mix and match engines , chassis bits , and body work to suit .
I'm just trying to point out that if I can throw together the better part of 5 makes , a dirt engine , a street chassis , body work that started off as a metal halide lamp reflector and a pipe that once served as an eductor for a deaireating feed tank and still pass it off as a bike then you can do better .
Okay I'll quit with the motivational speech and offer this . Get even a glimmer of a picture of what you want it to look like and I can help source and engineer the odd bits . I'm not the only one here that can either . There's this bum that lives under a freeway over pass in Albany.....
