CB360 related. How would you fix this?

...or can it be fixed?
So I pulled the right side cover to service the clutch and saw a small piece of aluminum in the bottom of the cover.
Turns out the stop for the kickstart spring return broke off. There is barely enough that it still functions but I don't trust it to last long. You can see in the picture where its still making contact.
I was thinking of drilling out a hole and inserting an aluminum dowel to function as the stop. But, I'm not sure how much force is applied by the spring return and wonder if it would bend the dowel.
Or should I quit whining and not worry about it? :P

No, it can't stay like that. It's already weakened and will shortly fall apart if you continue to use the kicker. You have 2 choices: Get a welder to build that area with tig weld or find a new crankcase bottom half.

Welding is only way to repair it.
Any sort of drilling/pinning will only weaken it further
It's what happens when people let kickstart spring up because they are afraid of 'kickback'
It means a complete engine strip whatever you do

Thanks guys. I was hoping for an easy fix. My brother knows a pro welder that's also into bikes so he's gonna have him check it out too. This was a spare I just picked up so if I have to run it sans-kick until the winter then that's ok too. it's just gonna be a stock commuter bike anyway. I have another engine that needs attention that will go on the "race" bike. Pj I haven't forgot about you still looking for a crank. Between all my extracurricular activities, drinking, and work, I just haven't had time to tear into and check the other engines yet.

Well fwiw the guy was able to get a nice shiny spot of weld on without disassembling anything major. This dude is a pretty darn good welder. I have it all bolted back up. Just have to reset my points and I'll try to fire it up. I may get to ride by the time winter finally rolls around. :)
