Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. So I stripped the frame right down and took it to the old mans.
It’s amazing what a difference having all the right tools make. I wasn’t happy with my previous attempt at the rear brake switch bracket so I thought I’d have another go this time using dads drill press and bench grinder.
No one will ever see it except me, but the devil is in the detail after all.
Next the rear brake pistons wouldn’t budge do we had to pump grease into the caliper to release them worked a charm. Sorry no photos my hands were covered in grease.
So the frame with get water blasted then powder coated satin black
I’m debating whether or not to powder coat the rear brake caliper satin black or the same colour gold as the rims.
Unfortunately the engine work and frame work will al be ready after I’ve already flown out for work so it will be six weeks before I can put it together but I should pretty much have most of the stuff done so I can put her all back together once I get home around Xmas would love to have her running by mid jan that would be awesome.

Well I painted up the battery tray and reinstalled the electrics.
The old man welded up a better bracket for the coils that will allow the tank to sit properly and also won’t break it’s a much thicker gauge of plate.
Hopefully whilst I’m at work all of the engine work and powder coating get done. Then over Xmas it will be assembling.
I’m thinking I’ll hold off on the steering damper as a friend of mine has just done the same mod and said it was much better than original. That said his rear shocks were taller than mine which probably changed his steering geometry for the better mine sits fairly low, so I’m unsure what impact that will have

No I’m using a cycle x upgrade, I think that extra black wire that looks like an earth is the wires for the LED tail light set up. I need to keep some length on it as the light will be housed within the tail section,but the wire will feed into the tray. So when I seperate the two I’ll need some wiggle room.

So the frame has come back from being sandblasted and powder coated
The caliper was hydroblasted came up pretty sweet I’ll hit that with some golden paint
Hopefully some time this week the head and barrels will be ready.
I’m still contemplating whether or not to split the gearbox, the engine had done about 68k
If I split the box I’ll get it hydroblasted also, I don’t think I’d be able to hydroblaste the gearbox with the motor assembled without getting water ingress
Has anyone here hydroblasted a fully assembled motor before with success ??

Just a heads up - I used the exact same paint on my caliper (both make and colour) with questionable results to be honest. I followed the instructions, baked the thing after applying the paint, but the first time I tried bleeding the lines and got brake fluid on the caliper it tore right through the paint.
Maybe I messed up somewhere (entirely possible) - you may have better results than me. Good luck! And that frame came out sweet.

The caliper bracket will go back to be coated black. As it’s only the caliper I want to be gold1fasgsxr said:
The guys said the powder coating wouldn’t stand the heat. I had every intention of having it coated in the same gold as the rims, as I had left over powder but the guys at the shop red carded it. I figured they would know given they deal with it all the time.

Not if they use normal polyester powders. I have a top triple clamp and calipers that were P/C'd and I didn't notice some brake fluid on the parts after I bled the brakes. Came back a while later (as in months- years) and P/C has lifted and parts corroded underneath.
So they were stripped and painted with caliper paint which brake fluid washed off. After that I tried VHT Epoxy and that also lifted.
I just stripped the calipers again and this time I used VHT high temp engine enamel and baked them for an hour at 220F. We'll see soon if that works.
I understand that 2 part epoxy would work after it has catalyzed and cured. I just hope I don't have to do that.
