Is my timing correct?

Its been a minute since ive had a kz200 apart so I dont remember the exact design but in other words do you have the tensioner set where the tension would be the least or not at all when installed

Also i am not convinced that the mark you show on the flywheel is TDC because it is very hard to see. Confirm tdc by shining a light in the plug hole and finding the point of piston dwell at the top of the stroke. Whatever mark is close to the pointer on the flywheel cover when the piston is motionless at the top of the stroke is your mark

I can thread it in like a turn and then it stops.. Which isn't normal because usually I can get it to thread in until it reaches stock specs

Is it possible maybe whenever I was removing the old gasket something got in the crank or something? And that's making the noice? I put a towel in whenever I was doing it but who knows

I am asking questions that are not getting answered.

Post a pic of your tensioner.

That sound is very likely the cam chain but without being in the room it is not easy to tell.

That gasket debris wont do anything do your bottom end unless it gets caught in an oil passage. That is not the sound you are hearing.

The fact that the tensioner wont go in tells you to focus on that.

With the tensioner out, does the chain have slack? How much

Sorry, my motorcycle lingo isn't all there so sometimes I don't understand the actual question! Haha.

Then pushes into the chain guard type thing

LOL how bout with the gear installed?

Is your chain guide stuck? Does it flop back and forth freely?

To be honest it kinda looks broken from here.

Your pictures are too goddamn close show the whole motor this is seriously getting frustrating seeing one little part at a time it is a whole goddamn assembly show it. I dont use a 9 power scope to look at motors sorry

Guard on the left stays put, the chain guide on the right moves freely.

Slack wise with the gear on it isn't a struggle to move it onto the cam without the tensioner in.

To answer the earlier question about TDC here's a shot of the flywheel.

And here's a further out shot of the tensioner guides

Are you sure you're not hearing the transmission when you crank it? And resistance coming from compression?

Are you turning the engine to the same side that it rotates? If you turn it opposite side of rotation it might be the source of the noise

You should feel some resistance when the rockers are trying to open the valves.
Make sure you get the tensioner in there and only turn the crank counterclockwise.
