Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid/ Christine: CASE BACK OPEN...

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Personally I think I'd go with a 1/4 fairing on the bike. Even the lights side by side look too narrow (to me) for the rest of the machine.

Thanks for the input, lou!

Here is concept for the cut outs at the bottom of the tank. You'll see the airbox through the cutouts:

Here's a link to one on ADV. Might be worth looking into.

While it may look a little too "fighterish", seems to be well made. And I was looking at some fairings on Airtech as well- there was a Suzuki fairing that came standard with 2 light holes, but could be ordered with one hole or even solid.

Something like this... Not a perfect model but I only had a few min.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Just catching up. looking great. I like Swaps idea on the fairing I think one wth dual headlights would look killer with the tank and seat combo. Or maybe one headlight and some work to it like the Shinwa Kimura (Spelling?) bikes he does them in raw aluminum and has one with a fairing a lot like Louie did with an offst headlight and a vent etc. that looks crazy from all angles and somehthing similar would be cool on Kool Aid!

Linky to bike Shinya Kimura:

something like this, a little less crazy would be cool.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

So the fairing idea kind of grew on my. I have never really liked the faired look, but with all of the photoshopping and other contributions, I did a little brain storming. I was off today, so I spent the day making up a cafe fairing in the with inspiration from the sports cars of the 1920's, and of course plenty of polished aluminum. I kind of like it, but am holding judgement until I get the tank back and can take in the overall effect:

Pardon the single crappy cell shot, I forgot my camera at my folks' house yesterday, and won't get it back till tonight. I will post up some better pics then.

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Looks promising ford!
Perhaps a small foldback around the forks each side to tie the look to the side view of the bike.

Crazy

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Yep, I still have to fold the sides out a little so they don't look so square, but overall I like it. Here are some better pics:

I really want to see it with the tank, though, before I decide if this is a certain thing...

Looks awesome man!

What are you going to do wiht the stock white front fender?

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

So...call me sick, but I am contemplating a wet nitrous kit for this thing. Nothing crazy, like only an 20 or 30 hp system. I would be staying well within the capabilitesof the bike on that front. I have run spray on my sleds, and always got along well with it there. This would more than likely be more for novelty's sake than anything, but would be fully functional at the same time. I just think that as crazy as this thing is getting, it might need something like that to top it off.

I know...late at night...thinking too much... ;D

...but a good idea, hey?

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Lookin sick dude! Love the windscreen, what kind of fasteners are those? Hex screws with brass washers?

And yes, nitrous is always good!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

While I am all for some laughing gas, I want to say that would be a great project for NEXT winter. Between the tank and other assorted bits on this (and brass plating on the HD), I think you would be better off knowing that everything is done come spring time. Know what I'm saying?

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

true words. I have to do a little planning, it would seem. If this goes this way, I wont be doing the BB on the softail, and would likely save that for next winter. I want to keep a little reliability in the garage, anyway, since this one seems to be going down the tubes... :D

Oh, pablo: yep, just stainless hex screws with brass finish washers!

Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...t'ank goodness!

Well, it's done. I could not get the nitrous idea out of my head, so today I ordered all the stuff. I have everything tailored to fit into Kool-Aid as it is...even with a 12 oz.alum. nitrous bottle that will be easy to stash. Got some other tasty bits in there too. I got both 20 and 30 hp jets, and stuff for true wet kit, so it should work out pretty good. More on this when it arrives, but just too cool of a development to let lie!

Kool-aid goes extreme!
