Need some advice on where to place rear master cylinder

that is up to you, you may be able to use a lot of the footpeg braket and the pivot of the brake pedal
all it really needs is a 90 degree arm welded on
first i would run the rod from your pedal straight back and see then if there is any room in the passenger peg area
you are going to need a fab shop, welder, and the skills to use them or hire the job out in bits
otherwise its pretty much just going to frustrate the fuk outta ya
 
I can actually TIG and cut metal here. Should be ok... Just needed a hand with the plan. Your drawing was super helpful, but the brake rod is tucked in too close to the swing arm. Gonna have to do something on the inside of the passenger footpeg mount

I still think you should run a cable off the existing brake pedal and mount the MC up under the seat / rear cowl. Yes - a bit more mucking around but it will be easier to make the MC work if you mount it in a place where there's more space to experiment with lever angles, etc. Plus it will look tidier.
 
my MC's should show up any day. I'd love to put it under the seat and keep it out of view. I'll post up again when all the parts are here. thanks all.
 
Parts are here. I'm not concerned with keeping it out of view. Just want it functional and reliable. Want to run this scenario by the seasoned...

I think I could weld a simple pivoting bracket off the brake arm. When the brake is applied, it will send the arm back & up and will send the plunger in.

Does anyone see a problem with that? See pic for a realistic placement:

Yes, I can make a bracket, should be pretty straightforward. It's the linkage that's giving me some trouble. Here's what I'm thinking should do the trick: (what do you think)

Make a bracket that attaches to the frame using the two toolbox bolt holes. Then make a short linkage to connect the pedal (where the stock rear linkage is) to the master. If that makes sense...
 
the pedal right now is just resting (no spring in there right now) - when the pedal is held up with the spring, a push downward will send that new pivot up and back -- and should send plunger in (in theory). It is possible that I'm going full retard right now. Will have to go back into the garage to check it out...
 
There's no way when you push down on the pedal that the pedal arm goes up......

This. That's what I think would work best as well and require no welding. Aside from making the tab from the stock pivot promote a linear upward push to the master.
 
Think I've narrowed it down to these two options.

1. mount to passenger foot peg taps: this would have a connecting rod from the actual brake lever itself. I'd weld a little tab that pushed the rod back & a pivot that sent it up.

2. On the stamped steel taps: I'd weld a tab/arm (facing rear of bike) and hinge a rod up to send plunger home. The rod looks like it will clear in the small area behind the swing arm.

Any thoughts?

I think it does! I'll need a pivoting connector, but I think it will work the way you suggested. The rod will have to operate in the small space between the swingarm and the stamped area of the frame. Any problem with the linkage slipping inside this little clearance?
