Ok boyz, im having bad luck when it comes to my carbs.

The rebuild kits I bought are for an xv750 81-83

But they dont fit. The gasket is wrong and there are some differences with the needles.

Soooooo.......???? Not really fantastically happy with how much time they are off the bike, as I want to get this little bike up and running.

So im looking for people to pull together all knowledge on where I can get a rebuild kit for my carbs,

The carbs are Hitachi.

Go to the Virago Tech forum and look through the threads there - as noted early in your thread, you need a different kit. Or ask in that forum, they're more likely to have a part number for you.

Finally ordered what seems to be the correct carb kit.... Time will tell.

Finally got in both front/back brakes in so I can now put my rear swing arm back on and rear tire.

That is a good thing.

Havent lined up a fabricator yet.

But its a winter project.. and its only October.

No worries.

Thought I would ask the opinion of the fine forum members.

Concerning my clip ons.

Should I . A) remove the top triple to put them on.
Or B) just loosen up the triples and slide the forks off?

What do you think?

If you pull the forks , it gives you an opportunity to service the steering bearings and inspect for wear.

Ok that was a simple procedure.

Dropped the front wheel, loosened the forks. Slide off.

Easy. Only troublesome part was lifting the bike up.

All sorted.

One step at a time.

Never been a fan of these xv´s till i got surfing the caferacer sites.
Here is one i found at pipeburn the other day,might be of some inspiration.

For me, I love the bulk of the V-twin.. LOVE IT! Just a massive... in your face piece of Art! I would love just to have the engine in my basement near my pool table just to look at!

But im not much for the blacked out engines. I feel it takes the attitude out of it.

I like Ground Aluminum. I think it got more edge and attitude! After all for me Attitude is what the bike needs to exude!

So what if its not the fastest or the cleanest ! As long as its got the Tude!

So, now I need to get the tank weilded and grind off the parts on the sub frame, and try and figure out how to get that all together so it flows with the lines of the bike and looks non hack!

Good news, found a local guy to weld the tank for me...... Thats one step closer.

I just need to figure out the best idea for a subframe. Wondering if I should go from scratch or try and rework the orginal sub frame that came with the bike.

I did grind off the lower part of the sub frame already.! Suppose I can post that!

Love the father son project! There aren't too many of those on the site as most of us have young children. I can't wait til mine is a bit older so we can do a bike together. He's only just turned 5, but he loves bikes and talks about having a garage full of cool motorcycles when he's a grown-up. Ha! Atta boy. I originally bought an XV with the intention of building a Englebert Zero bike. I've since gone in a different direction, but I follow all the XV builds religiously. Good luck and have fun with it!
