Poor College Student CB360 Build

Thanks I will definitely be looking for that air leak. I glanced at my carbs this morning before I left and it did look like the right side carb isn't as seated as it could be. Also I noticed it looked like it was dribbling a bit of oil between the cylinder incasing and the head manifold. I am not going to take any chances with it and pull it off and make sure I don't have a bad gasket.

Sonreir, thanks for looking at the timing. How could you tell it looks way advance?

Here is the video of the bike running. Sorry about the out-focus, I had my camera on manual focus. Anyways I got the idle down about 500 rpm by the idle screw. I think I do need my carbs synced, but unfortunately I don't have the tool for it and might have to rent one if possible or if worse comes to worse buy one. Ignore the small oil leak on the left side, I have already fixed it.

A little update for everyone. I have the bike where it will start in a single kick but I still have the rpm issues. I ordered a carb sync tool and snap ring clip tool for the master cylinder. Hopefully those will fix the main mechanical issues.

Anyways I am stumped with the LED turn signals still. I have this electronic flasher.
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2FLFS-1-PIN.html
When I turn on the signal it just stays on and does not flash. They are not hooked up to the idiot lights either. I keep trying different things and nothing is working. Maybe I am doing it wrong or it is a part issue.

Good news everyone, I have all of my lights functioning properly! The root of the problem was the flasher. The superbrightled flasher never would flash, so after two trips to the auto parts store and two different flashers I got one that worked. That is one big step to becoming street legal.

Sorry about the low-res picture.

I am still waiting on tools to come in, but hopefully I can get this tagged and on the street by next week!

Hey everyone! I am taking this from my 1800cafehelp so I thought I would post it here too.

Hey fellow toners! My bike is nearing completion and I need a little bit of your help.

I finally installed my drive chain on the bike and when I set it off of its center stand it won't move in neutral or when the clutch lever is pulled in. The chain isn't too tight and set to what the factory specs are.

Any advice or ideas what the problem might be? I am completely stumped at the moment. Could it be a clutch problem?

EDIT: It started just fine when I had the chain off of it. I need to carb sync it because the idle is high but besides the locked wheel it works fine.

Well I went to fire the bike up today on the center stand and ran into some issues.. It fired right up on the first kick like normal. The wheel was rotating the entire time on the stand too. The weird thing is it was idling like it should between 1200-1500 rpm. So I let it warm up and idle for 5 minutes or so then I thought I would try and put it into gear on the center stand. That was a huge mistake. It wouldn't go into first so I put it into second then the bike quit. I haven't tried to fire it up again, but it won't move into and other gears.

I really could use yours guys help.

I am not convinced you have it in neutral. esp since the wheel is rotating when you have it on the stand. I'd work on ensuring your clutch is in order ie when you pull it in the bike will roll. It's likely something that simple go through the clutch actuator and cables

Yeah I am thinking the same. The weird thing is that the bike show it was in neutral before.

Today I tried the kick start while the bike was off and it would not budge. I think this might be a bit more serious than I originally anticipated...

Re: Poor College Student CB360 Build UPDATED: PROJECT WAR HORSE

Lately I have been super sick of a lot that was going on this bike, so I broke out the angle grinder. I have had a bit of time to finally work on it and I am going to take a whole new approach.

Still having problems with the gearbox I pulled the engine yet again. I haven't gone through it, but I am going to reevaluate the whole assemble.

For this revise, Project War Horse, is going to be a stripped down version of what I already have. The paint was horrible and I cannot afford powder coating the whole thing, so I am going to have as much bare metal as possible. The exclusions of that will be the engine, wheels, and forks.

I am thinking of clear coating all of the exposed steel, but if I find a better solution besides clear powder coat I will do that.

The Danmoto gauge was fully wired up before disassembly. Those LEDs are unbelievable bright

The seat is going to stay the same, besides some foam and leather for a seat pad. I am using leather from a jacket that I got from a thrift shop for $8 for a party. I will probably make straps and a rollup tool bag too.

Here are some photos.

Trying to make that metal look new. Angle grinders are fun!

Lately I have been busy with tests, but it looks as though I will get a bit of time to work on this. Last night I started to polish the tank. I am debating whether to keep the sanded angle grinder look or a straight uniform sanded look. We are suppose to get about two feet of snow here so classes will likely be canceled. More time to work on the bike. If so I want to have at least a rolling chasis again and maybe start going through the damn tranny.

I have been keeping busy with this little turd. Finally I got the paint off of the metal and put some polish on it. Today I got it all wired up and cracked the case open again. With the tranny I am stumped. Maybe it moves when I put it together or I am over looking something. Tomorrow I plan on going through this whole thing and making sure every part of the tranny is in its place. Sorry for the crappy cellphone pictures.

The good old bike is registered, insured, titled and tagged. I have been doing a few shakedown runs and there are bugs to be worked out. I need to test the charging system a bit. Of course I blew a fuse and didn't have any fuses on me but my sister picked me up and grabbed a few fuses at home.

The cause of the whole gear issue came down to two things. First, the ball on the shift drum looks as though it wasn't settled in perfectly. Second, I was checking the clutch and loosened the bolts and everything popped into place and was free. It was the weirdest thing.

I do have a lot of little things to work out and improve, but she is running and I am happy. As time goes on I am going to redo a lot of things including the seat, gas tank, tank/powder coating, and maybe forks.
