Restomodding a 74 CL360

the secondary main jet emulsion tube...I think its a 5/16 inch and/or 9mm. wrench.

This truly sucks. The wife and I are splitting up, I'm moving out at the end of June with my daughter. I'll be spending my weekends moving my stuff to a bigger storage locker, including my project bikes. If i can't get the carbs going this week, I'm going to have to put it away for a few months.

That really sucks man, sorry to hear that. I've been there (but without kids) and it's very tough.

May I suggest you send your carb bits to PJ for him to go through for you? One less thing for you to worry about...

Yeah, I might have to do that. It just kills me, plus we have to take a couple of the dogs back to the rescue group we got them from since I can't have three dogs and two cats. I'll miss the dogs more than her, though.

Okay, so I have these parts left over. What are they and where do they go?

The small bit of brass is a jet and should go inside the carb, underneath the float bowl. There are three holes, but it should only fit into one of them, if I remember correctly.

Everything else is stacked onto the big brass piece and it gets screwed into the carb toward the bottom and close to the engine (as it mounts on the bike). It controls the amount of fuel that is metered at idle. It's the mixture screw.

Fuel mixture screw, 'o' ring has to fit in the groove.
The spring also fits onto it but the sharp edges must be removed first or it messes up carb body
That's a secondary main jet
Alloy washer fits onto vacuum post screw

Funny thing. I had no idea that there was anything under the pilot jet under blanking screwjet screw. It was so gummed up with gunk, it looked flat. After I saw the picture crazypj put up, I unscrewed it and sprayed some Seafoam Deep Creep under that screw and let it sit overnight. Hey, look! There's a flat head slot in there. -_- I screwed it out and put the new one in. Which is why I have those five parts left.

I screwed up doing the list, it should have been just blanking plug with pilot jet underneath
I ended up deleting pilot jet instead of putting it on a separate line :-[
It's all good though as people can at least se what is inside 360 carb (350 are similar but not the same)
Glad it was helpful and you swapped the pilo jets out, how 'nasty' was the old one?
You did spray some carb cleaner through the passageways before fitting it?

When I first unscrewed the cover screw, I was wondering what it was for. The gum buildup in that hole was so bad it looked like it was plugged with and old plexiglass window from an 80s master cylinder. That Seafoam stuff cleaned out a LOT of crap, I sprayed more in before I screwed the new pilot jet in.

Should be OK, it did come out through the bypass ports (intake side by throttle butterfly) and air bleeds under diaphragm?

I have several screwdrivers I've ground narrower to fit I radius the sides as it's easy to damage the threads for blanking plugs (I also forget where I put them down which is why I have several ;D )

My "go to" screwdriver is AWOL, along with my modded battery box. I'm making a stop at my Honda dealer, maybe something came in. What size tube does the float bowl drain use and how long should it be? My Google-fu sucks today.

I haven't figured out where that silver washer goes, but that slotted bolt isn't coming off of the original, so I'm leaving that alone on both carbs. I'm still waiting on the floats, since the parts guy didn't listen to what I asked for and ordered the stuff that holds the floats, not the actual floats. Once those are here, I can put them in and hopefully get the bike started with both cylinders. I need to find where I put the drain plug bolt and crush washer I got earlier this year and drain the oil.
