Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Rich,

I have been too busy this month to spend much time on the forum but MAN! you pulled it off!! Looks great, congrats! Love the terozzi's too!

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Thanks gents. Ben, I have seen that before but reading it again reminded me that I needed to adjust my mixture screws. Had an extremely rich idle......

All good Scott- I'm sure you've been banging your head off the wall about that clutch issue. Glad you appreciate the changes!

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Did some minor stuff last night: added the license plate brake light/frame, swapped the aluminum handle bars for steel ones, etc, etc. But the past couple weeks I've noticed a "rapping" noise from the front end that would disappear with the slightest bit of pressure on the brakes. Figured it was my rotor, but couldn't tell which one until I got to ride through a little rain storm. Pulled over at a gas station and saw the low spot on the left rotor.

Biggest problem was that all my slotted rotors were mounted to other bikes. So last night I had to lift 2 front ends and swap out some rotors. World of difference! Hopefully this week I'll finally get the paint buffed out and make some other touches to get it ready for Mods vs Rockers.......

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Hey man,

Just wanted to tell you again how fantastic your bike/build is. The transformation is just incredible. Damn good work, Rich.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Hey Big R,
Where did you put the key switch? Or did you just eliminate it? I'm getting ready to rid the bike of the bulky Speedo/tach/unneeded instruments panel and the ignition switch is right where I want to put my new speedo. I know you've got an integrated speedo/headlight and probably could have gotten away with leaving the key switch where it was but it doesn't look like that's what you did. Oh by the way, Love those clip-ons.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Thanks Kwazy- I love my new bars. World of difference. Right now I just have a hidden switch for the ignition, but I will be going to a keyed ignition switch probably over winter. I did away with the stock switch for 2 reasons: 1) they are insanely easy to hot wire and 2) it would have interfered with the bucket/speedo. It doesn't make a lot of sense to do away with a key and replace it with a toggle, but I do plan on getting back to that........

And thanks Justin. You know you are more than welcome to rip this around next time we GTG.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

I saw that and was trying to skirt around it for a little while.......I don't want to accept yet because the bike isn't "done"- still need to buff the paint and add my badges. But I do want to accept before the deadline for entries.

Hopefully it will be buttoned up for Mods vs Rockers and I can get some great pics from there. Thanks buddy!

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Well it is done enough to get my vote. You did a great job, know one would ever guess that was a tempter! OK so you can wait a bit to accept, that is cool.

Cheers,

Mike

Hahahaha! You guys crack me up- you and your fancy "TX's" and "CB's"........

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Ok, a small update. I've had a hard time getting hold of my neighbor (who painted the tank & seat) so my wife said she would call him. Tomorrow morning he said he would come over and finish sanding and buff everything for me. Which means I can mount up some badges, decals, etc. Progress!

I plan on riding this to Pittsburgh for the Mods vs Rockers, so I'll snatch some pics from that and post them here.

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

What? You mean it's not buffed now? Wow... looks damn good for not being buffed already!

Looking forward to those pic's already...

Kinda hard to get a profile shot but here's the pics I took from Saturday:

For those of you that noticed it, I had a pretty bad oil leak that day from the top end. Come to find out it was my own stupidity.......when I was putting the top end back together the o-rings for the cam cover bolts were chewed up. So just to get everything covered, I put it together anyway and ordered new o-rings and thought I would install them when they came in. Well, they came in and I thought "why the hell did I order these?" and sat them aside.......

Re: Suzuki GR650- Viva la Tarozzi!

Looks so nice Rich, Bummer about the oil leak though! Did it soak your header wrap? I need to go back and re-read on the air filter, looks like one of the oval K&N units... one filter unit for both carbs?
